Now let's compare them:

Red = ONR dense crowd (people pushing themselves together), Blue = ONR Loose crowd (noticeable space between between people)

Notice how the crowd tapers off and people are moving toward the 'dense' area in the ONR picture above.

So, if we accept the lib media estimates of crowd size, did the Glenn Beck rally (which dense entirely around reflecting pool, under all the trees, the WWII memorial, and the side field; while loose only behind the WWII memorial and in a small portion of the side field.

2. Political gridlock as the economy drifts - if you think this is bad, wait until Republicans take over. Obama doesn't have the experience to play the political game, and the most effective Chief of Staff in the last two decades left on Friday. Obama's screwed.

1. Rasmussen: All-Time Low of 34.6% Now Call Themselves Democrats - Public polling started about 1946 and, in that time, Democrat party identification has never dipped so low.

Why is this important?

Because Democrats largely depend on a very, very old system of party loyalty/individual benefit, more so at the 'elite' level than at the base. If more people are turning away from the party right after they pushed through the best kickback bill possible (the porkulus), it's evidence that their party's model is falling apart. Virg Bernero's absolutely dismal poll numbers are also evidence of this.

2. Bank of America Asks Patience As Stockholders Stew Over Slump The slump is the result of Obama's new financial controls. This has caused BoA to shed jobs and begin putting remaining employees on VHA health insurance (the institution you'll be hearing about a lot more next year: it's the Obamacare 'network,' but I prefer 'commune' or 'collective').

Why is this important?

Bank of America is very big and very public: this makes it very good to watch for an idea about the state of the financial sector. The fact that their stockholders seem to be selling, and that they're dumping property traders, tells me the Obama financial control bill is doing as Republicans predicted: further killing the housing market.

3. CNN Fires Rick Sanchez for "Jews" Remarks The crazies are cracking and it's like popcorn out there! This is the same Rick Sanchez that said Obama was as "captivating" to the rest of the world as he is to us at home. State media, sheesh...

Why is this important?

Because it's funny, helps us and keeps our spirits up :)

Bureaucrat: Man or Machine?

Man has dignity and this dignity deserves respect.

To treat someone as a means denies this respect and is evil: people should be treated as ends.

A human being is not a piece of equipment, yet the good bureaucrat is nothing more than that.

Politicians write a line in a bill among some 4,000 pages which describes the total functions of one person over their entire professional lifetime.

In government, people become mere means to reach policy goals.

Thus is the conflict for the vast majority of bureaucrats:

to carry out the letter of the law and do their job well while becoming a replaceable automaton,
or to have individuality and damage their part of the system.

Truly, a man cannot serve two masters.

The crisis of this choice is the reason for the higher rate of depression among public employees around the developed world.

(Empirical: In France and the Low Countries, suicide rates among public employees is much higher than the private sector (France's total population suicide rate is 14.7% while among public employees it is 15.3%). In Canada, depression and mental health issues account for 45% of disability claims in the government. In Japan, a country with (with 1/3 the US's population) 90-100 suicides PER DAY, news reports are plagued with pressured government officials killing themselves. In the US, however, the formula is different: our government officials (according to the DHHS) are more depressed than the general population, but kill themselves at about the same rate.)

It is both bad economic policy and morally wrong to put an intelligent, responsible person in a situation where doing a good job and having personhood are incompatible.

Government employees suffer from the delusion of efficacy and individuality supported by high wages, public unions, and encouragement from their co-workers: they will oppose cuts.

No matter their conditions, however, who someone is is more important than what they have.

We have it in our power to literally rescue them from a system which denies their rightful dignity.

It is the same kind of tough love we practice with drug addicts.

Cuts, like rehab, will not be liked by bureaucrats, but must be done both for their moral benefit and for the good of our civilization.

Government and the Middle Class

Almost every government program benefits the Middle Class at the expense of the very rich and the very poor.

We live in a democratic republic. Authority and legislative agendas is inevitably derived from popular will and support.

The focus of our political system is on the wishes of the Middle Class. For instance, the email that sparked this post was from Michelle Malkin and Eric Son of Eric: "Stop New Tax on the Middle Class!"

Depending on which politically expedient source you use, the Middle Class makes up between 25-66% of the American public.

In my limited opinion, our politics and their governmental outcomes suggest 55-70%.

Being that this is such a huge voting block, politicians are inevitably going to respond to large movements within it.

Typically our government structure seeks to "serve" the Middle Class while, at the same time, keep it struggling.

Why? Because this serves the political elite's interests best: it keeps them elected.

Why the MC struggles:

MC families usually invest solely in a home and give us the phrase 'house poor' to signify the many MC couples live a lower standard of living with the faith that their sacrifice to pay for a too-expensive house will pay off.

Since 2005, this hasnt happened, thus MC families struggle.

Cash for Clunkers is, perhaps, the best example of helping the MC at the expense of the very rich and very poor.

The program was designed to get old cars out of the market and make new cars cheaper to people who'd been owning older cars.

Putting aside that each car taken in the program cost taxpayers $24,000, the effects were simple: the top 1% of income earners primarily paid for it while fewer old cars raised the price of used cars for the rest of the year.

Who did that hurt? While the hurt to the rich and upper MC is very direct, the reduced supply and corresponding jump in prices of low-end cars catastrophically damaged the social mobility (ability to rise into the MC) of the poor.

If you cant afford a car at all, you cant get to a job. If you cant get to your job, you cant make money and you dont get on-the-job training. If you dont get those, you fall behind in the market and join the perpetual underclass, dependent on others and the state.

Libs use public spending to stimulate the creation of investment capital. The result is a whole bunch of money in investment firms (and a HUGE capacity for making war) but a bunch of unemployment (very good for making war).

Their economic model was designed for the 1930's...where more production overwhelmingly meant more employees (it didnt work then - 19% unemployment in 1939 after 7 years of this system).

In the Information Age, more investment capital means better technology/training for maximizing the production of those employees you already have.

Libs will attempt to remedy the problem with more govt spending to train the adults left behind by the Wall Street rallies.

The first problem is the govt spending that destroyed the natural balance between technological advancement and the education of the worker. The training-based govt spending destroys entrepreneurial initiative because those trained dont know how to create systems, just operate in them.

Libs, then, make the govt create systems...which work as well as the Post Office. For example, health care.

Health employment's knowledge base is collapsing very quickly. If you learned the cutting edge in 1995, and didnt go back to school, think of how far you are behind in 2010. The AMA, then, doesnt encourage doctors to change...it just lobbies the government to subsidize the failing system.

This also works for war: the New Deal generated and then taxed to death a huge amount of investment capital...they, then, used this combined with the need for work of millions of young men and women...to go to WWII. Hitler's plan was the same.

These are the failures of any artificially planned economy and the reason why many of us are limited to part time work or unemployment checks.

I've decided to launch a new initiative with verifying candidates pro-life positions with a stamp on their website. These Prolife Profiles aim to give 3rd party verification for pro-life claims. I believe this is necessary given the increasingly life-supporting tendencies of the electorate and, thus, candidates' talk. To the right is the logo with all its factors and below is a description of each.

Each gold star is full support while silver stars are partial or weak support for the life position.

*Top 3 are the trimesters of abortion. 3 gold stars in those positions means full and dependable opposition to each. For instance, George W. Bush would get 3 gold stars while Barack Obama would get a silver star for the 3rd and a skull and crossbones in each of the first two.

*The bottom star on the left regards euthanasia.

*The bottom-right star is the death penalty. A gold star means opposition in all cases while a silver star is opposition in most or in all but the most extreme cases.

*The "heart plus+" symbol to the right of the text signifies the proactive-change orientation of the candidate. There is a HUGE different between merely "defending" life and "promoting" pro-life positions. George W. Bush would not have gotten this symbol: his party had control of the Presidency, Congress, and the Supreme Court for 6 years and accomplished little in regards to promoting pro-life positions.

Herb-Derived Medicines: Marijuana and Opium.

My reaction to anything people say is to read history. For medical pot, I look to China in the early to mid-19th century. When the British came a-knockin' with Indian Opium in 1792, the Chinese Emporer was all "aiite, sounds good...it's a medicine and all." By 1826, the fabric of urban Chinese society was entirely destroyed. In 1838, the Emperor appointed Lin Zexu to go to Canton and demolish the opium trade. In 1839, the British sent troops to enforce the opium trade's existence - they went to war with China over opium (known as the "Opium War" lol). The medicinal effects were entirely overlooked and a lot of suffering happened because of it.

Psychoactive drugs destroy societies

What happened to "medical opium?" By the 1860's, scientists had taken plant-based opium (poppies) and made a mass-producable drug: morphine. From morphine we have oxycodone, common codeine (which is in Tylenol/Excedrine today), and thousands of other drugs: all much safer with fewer side effects, less addictive capacity, and more targeted results than.........smoking a plant.

Marijuana is not a wonderdrug. It's a plant. The medicinal properties of it can be isolated and made into a painkiller: we dont need to be getting cancer patients stoned to get rid of their headaches. Just as opium has bred a bunch of commonly used, excellent drugs, cannibis can breed "canniboids." Dronabinol already exists (known as 'Marinol') and is, like morphine, a very crude drug. Instead of investing so many millions in the regulation of medical pot, why not have drug companies make drugs out of it? It's, you know, what they do.

After all, we live in the modern world: we dont rip up grass and light it on fire to get rid of minor aches and pains.

Christian Candidacy

As I prepare to campaign, I've been thinking about what a Christian campaign looks like. This is something we all need to be thinking about, especially with a primary on August 3rd. Now, with the indirect help of Overisel Reformed's stellar Pastor Scott Lokers, I've reached some conclusions I'd like to share with you.

Before beginning, I have to clear a few things up. To those of you concerned about the "separation of church and state" (especially the one or two violent secular fanatics who read this): we do have a separation of our churches and our governments, yes, but no such separation exists between faith and politics. Second, conflict between Christians is not necessarily non-Christian. Fighting becomes non-Christian when it is not done constructively and not done virtuous, God-glorifying solutions.

In the electoral pursuit of these solutions, Christian Candidates (CCs) must have the intellectual humility to accept that our democracy and our God use conflict to find better ideas for the People (Eph 4: 15-16). It is through popular sovereignty that we see our Sovereign (Col 2:18-19). Therefore, a CC must have the humility and honor to propose ideas to voters and, then, focus on contrasting their ideas' predictable risks, rewards, and secondary effects with those of their opponents (Prov 18:12-13; James 1:19-20, 5:16). It goes both ways as well: CCs have to keep their egos small enough to accept that their proposals will always have flaws (Gen 4:12) and that acting in a positive way on these flaws (fixing or scrapping them) can and will restore all of us toward Jesus Christ (Rom 2:1-4, 14:3; Gal 5:22-25; Col 3:13-15). It points to a profound commitment of non-partisanship in thought: CCs are men and women who have ideas while they themselves are owned by Jesus, and loyal to Him only (Phil 2:7-8). A CC has to prayerfully analyze each and every piece of policy for themselves and not automatically side with their party or a certain interest group (1 Thess 2:2-3; James 1:19-20; Gal 5:23; Rom 15:1-6; Prov 18:13; Mt 10:16).

In actually running a campaign to communicate ideas, CCs must discipline those who work for them to adhere to the correct principles. Toward the opponent, Christian campaigns are respectful, truthful, non-judgmental and have an open dialog about the virtues of those running (Rom 14, 15:1-6; Phil 4:5; Col 3:13-15). False or half-truthful disparaging remarks made for quick political gain are forbidden in Christian tradition (Phil 2:1-11; Acts 15; Gal 6:1-6). All Christians are sheep among wolves: we have to conduct ourselves a positive, inclusive manner free of the fleshy negativity of our politics today (1 Cor 6:1-6; Rom 2:1-4). Like all of us, CCs have to stay focused on glorifying Him in thought, act, and life if He is to bless their works (Isa 37: 34-35). We Christians are just like the donkey that carried Jesus into Jerusalem: it might look to us like we're getting a lot of attention, but that praise is really for the One we lift up!

Why I am a Republican and The Challenge for Conservative Leadership

I've been asked a handful of times why I consider myself a Republican even after the Bush administration's denial of fiscal conservatism and the party not representing the base for an extended period of time. It's quite simple, really, and I'll answer it in the format of the Michigan GOP's 2008 tear-off calendar...

I am a Republican because...in the 90's, my single mother worked 3 jobs, sometimes 4, and had the opportunity to work as much as she wanted and, thus, provide the lifestyle she wanted for herself and her children. This was made possible by Ronald Reagan (fundamentally changed America) and John Engler (unemployment was down to the lowest point ever under his leadership: 3%). These two leaders defied the establishment Left, reduced the burden of government, and freed all Americans to be as productive and wealthy as they wanted to. While Reagan's federal plans took longer to implement and longer to fade, Engler's were more direct and closer to home, making them quicker to effect change. In my life I have witnessed the success of these plans and their model of 'Opportunity + Freedom = Prosperity = Liberty;' I have also watched as the Left and their ideas infected both parties and have brought this nation, the one that accomplished so much in my childhood and prospered as no other nation in history, to its knees before the world.

The combined destruction wrought by the economic policies of Bill Clinton, Jennifer Granholm, George W. Bush, and Barack Obama is a terrible crime against the people of this nation and my state. Clinton's policies, held off to an extent by Newt Gingrich and his allies in Congress, inevitably have altered, and in the altering, tangled, the economic framework that brought our people so much liberty in the past.

Now, Michigan rots in its longest and gravest economic depression ever. Detroit, once the crown jewel of the republic, sits with 44.8% of its citizens unemployed. Of our state as a whole, more than one out of five people do not have a job. Two million, two hundred and ninety thousand of our neighbors, family members, friends, and former coworkers have been thrown into personal indignity by a government-run, government-decided, government-dominated system that does not work.

When we do find hours, we grab them and change our schedules and activities around them. It really is a fundamental change from the reality my mother raised my brother and I in through the 1990's. In the business she owns now, she's had to cut six jobs, six livelihoods, during this 'still-fragile recovery.' Our new reality makes us beholden to scarce work and, thus, less free to pursue our own interests. This government-altered reality seems to hunt down liberty and exterminate it wherever it can be found.

Instead of being enabled through opportunity and freedom provided by free markets, the elimination and over-regulation of those markets disables us and makes into pawns, bottom feeders, regardless of our level of income. While we run into trouble with our mortgages, property taxes, car payments, college bills, and utility charges, our elected 'leaders' continue to spend and spend and spend and spend, pursuing personal and political goals. They, then, seek to repeat the mistakes of the past and 'help' the economy by distracting us with a nice new paved road or train rides to Disney Land. Historical changes for the absolute worse just like this one repeatedly display the challenge for conservative leadership, a challenge met only somewhat by conservative leaders during the times of Engler and Reagan.

Conservatives have to find and nominate leaders who can build systems that are self-terminating when they've outlived their respect for liberty, but are sustainable in spite of the Left's attempts to bend them to their own devices. That's up to every one of us to ensure these systems get put in place for every one of our 513,000 elected offices. I, a lonesome blogger, dare you to prove your commitment to our principles and ensure that this kind of real change happens in your community. We can bring back that level of opportunity, freedom, prosperity, and liberty that both you and I have experienced in the past. It wont be easy, but think of the daily struggle of our troops who preserve this simple opportunity for us: we ought to do right by them and seize the day.

The public option would totally work for liberal goals...but I disagree with the goals and the metrics used to get to those goals.

The public option's main idea is to work as a 'baseline competitor.' For instance: do you seriously use the post office for anything? I dont. But its the 'crap' version of UPS and FedEx...Obama's logic with the public option seems to be that, if we've got that, the rest of the insurance companies will automatically be more efficient. Okay......no one's going to disagree with that 'efficiency' principle (1) and (2) the system already does that BUT FOR government roadblocks (like insurance companies not being able to sell between states...which makes regulation of them by the federal government directly unconstitutional right now, but who cares about that document anyway :( ).

Thus my disagreement comes: it costs way too much (it takes all the costly inefficiencies in the current companies, multiplies them, and centralizes them under one forced-increase-funded source...thus 'breaking' society like Medicare and Medicaid are now)...

...and it will inevitably expand into nationalized health care given the support single payer has from lunatics in DC (Historical example: AMTRAK forced out all other passenger train systems until Reagan cut off their tax$ support, thus realizing higher prices paid by riders...by then, traveling by train had gone culturally 'out of style' and few use it anymore...choosing cars and hurting the environment/whatever- same concept w/ public option).

If you want to lower the cost of medical care, you have to get rid of the 1940's concept of insurance. 21st century dental insurance is a perfect example: Aspen Dental in Holland, MI charges $30 for a cleaning. Small business dentists charge $60 per cleaning and have much more profit than Aspen. Aspen will not accept insurance while 'local' dentists draw those with insurance. Why? If you have to pay out of pocket, you care about the cost; having insurance with a set premium eliminates that care. This injects competition much faster than a MASSIVE and EXPANDING and HISTORIC and WHATEVER government program.

Working within the current concept of insurance, %-based premiums would have the same effect (to a smaller and slower degree) in the private sector as eliminating insurance completely (something we shouldnt do...free markets and all). If I have to pay 25% of my Allegra-D, I'd pay like $30; if I had to pay 25% of the generic, I'd spend $2.50 for the same thing. Right now I have a flat $5 premium for my script insurance...so I'm going to go with the hugely expensive brand version because I dont care about the cost. %-based premiums simply provide an incentive to lower costs across the board with little or no impact on Research and Development.

Second on the Public Option, research and development will DIE as private corps start to lower prices to the self insured. In a WAM BAM DO IT NOW government solution, theyll cut the most expendable thing: R&D. This means a world-wide dark age for pharmaceuticals (i.e. end up going with Galen's pre-Christ research in the 1700's...a dark age in pharma). No new drugs, no new medicines advertised on tv, nothing. (The US produces 85-90% of treatments/drugs in the world. Second is UK, third Japan)

To reform M/M: first of all, privatize Social Security and put Medicaid back under the SSA. It was stupid to separate it in the 70's and has been an abject, dismal failure. When that's done, the people that take it over will immediately move to personal medical savings accounts for those under 30, and pay out for those who have paid in already. Third, I'd make Social Security optional so it and its new Healthcare Department have to compete with private life insurance companies...like it did in the 50's when it 'worked' (read: lost to private insurance co's...until we outlawed them. Reagan's 1964 GOP convention speech references SS failures).

For Medicare: take all of it and put it under the states. If you crazies really want wealth redistributed from those 'rich' places like Michigan to those 'poor' places like Texas (as it is now lol), youd continue the contributions. However, I wouldnt do that...let the states do it all. If they run it into the ground, it'll be much more public and much easier for people to fix them. It was public in the 60's when they ran their own welfare states into the ground...and you can hide it much easier in Washington...thus the political elite put it in Washington in the 70's...

There will also be more innovation in improving the system due to having 50 different ways of doing it. A large number of cases along a normal distribution works much better for improving systems than a SINGLE NATIONAL FIST way of doing things (see picture...the center or average quality/cost, in this case, will 'chase' the top dawgs toward higher quality and lower cost to the right)

...then we're talking about the first book I'm going to begin writing next year...on how governments attempt to create a 'present' (something that doesnt exist) within which to operate and fix things.

Capitalism, Feudalism, and Socialism

From Thomas Sowell: "Marxism is an ism that has become a wasm."

Socialists, ignorant of history, say that capitalism carries on feudalism (they really mean manorialism, but theyre too stupid to do their homework before mouthing off). However, they should note that capitalism is the direct opposite of feudalism. Capitalists seek to serve every need of a human being while Socialism, much more like feudalism, has historically sought to defeat the infinite dimensions of the individual and subordinate us to the state as solely economic vessels. Both socialism and feudalism do great violence to the spirit during this 'collectivization' and, thus, fail to provide, as Capitalism does, the greatest selection of highest quality goods and services at the lowest cost.

Instead of tracing a society's move backward to socialism and Daddy government by watching ideological policies, we are much better served by tracing the known effects. America since the 1930's has grown more and more socialistic (or more like its close brother Fascism which the Left Wing of the Democratic Party conveniently calls 'crony capitalism') and it is apparent in the effects. Under capitalism, the government would never have such strict control over labor (compulsory minimum wage, government enforcement of 'closed shop' rules, OSHA mandates, etc.) and natural resources ("protection" of coastal oil fields, imperial EPA greatly outstripping its legal authority and going WAY beyond protecting the environment). Further, under free capitalism, the government is not a legitimate investor, it has no authority to tell you what to buy, it does not run services, it doesnt make laws governing the use of products, warnings and nutrition information doesnt exist, among a number of other things you believe are good. Ask yourself this: how much more innovation could have taken place in the last 50 years if free markets were the laws of the land and not the socialist imperialism? How would we control our cars if the government didnt mandate the 1890's concept of 1 WHEEL, TWO PEDALS? How would toilets get rid of waste if the government didnt mandate the 1880's concept of swirling water? It's crazy to consider because a toilet which 'flushes' with __gal of water -and a car that operates on a way-too-simple control system- are second nature to us.

But that's socialism! It's socialism that causes societies to lack individual innovation and employment of individual skills just like the system that kept European and Far Eastern quality of life the same for hundreds of years...and it's socialism that threatens to do that to our world. We have to come to the understanding that, regardless of Socialist 'Newspeak,' their system is backward while free markets and private innovation are moves forward. There is great potential in people of my generation for a great national recognition of these simple truths.

We understand that the internet changes everything. We can communicate and disseminate ideas much faster than our parents' generation. For example, we know costly, unfair, established unions can be replaced with a Facebook group. There are all these little things that, together, can drastically increase our take-home pay while eliminating and thinning those entities which oppose liberty in our society...more older people just have to get on board in opposing 21st century feudalism.

My Religious Views

I've been asked about what my 'religious views' are...

Put simply, the word "religion" has no meaning. It's far too general and, of course, my "religion" doesn't cause me to blow up buildings. I, rather, like the word "faith." My own personal faith and theology are topics for a not-so-late post, but please know that I try to derive everything I do from my faith.

SAVE THE ASIAN CARP!

I am, right now, proposing an Asian Carp Empathy Museum in Chicago. Given this time of UNPRECEDENTED CRISIS, this STIMULUS project is entirely necessary to educate the public and policy makers so that they will not take rash action that will harm the fishes' collective psyche. We should show the Asian Carp that we recognize their intelligence and that we are willing to reason with them, perhaps offering some kind of COMPROMISE to their leader. So we all know about the Asian Carp (big, flying fish that eat a lot of plankton and weigh up to 100 pounds/ grow to 4 ft long) that are in the Mississippi River and headed for our beloved Lake Michigan. Illinois has been making an effort (we think) to prevent the spread and "kill" (a bad, violent, sexist, racist, evil word...of course) off the fish. The Feds gave the state $13million to help pay for the process, however, Michigan's Attorney General Mike Cox says that's not enough.

I did think it was high time for yet another high-profile lawsuit to come out of the good AG. He is, after all, running for governor. His lawsuit basically states that the Supreme Court must order the closing of Chicagoan locks (like the Soo Locks, eh?) until the threat has subsided. This is a decent enough idea...but it shows Cox's inability to act outside the system.

Now, Cox says that "ONLY the Supreme Court can save us now!" (I may be paraphrasing a bit...) and it shows his lack of grasp with big ideas. You want to stop the threat? 9 elderly people in Washington DC are not the only way to stop fish. How does one stop fish? Fishermen, duh.

Call me naive, but lets get Ted Nugent, a handful of my uncles, and several thousand other Midwestern fishermen to skip their annual, unproductive ice fishing trips and get on down to the city. I think that the obvious the 'out of the box' solution here is to have a Million Man Carp Shoot! Have the government buy the fish by the pound, use the TARP/Stimulus money, and combine the bad economy with the carp problem and come up with a solution. Other ideas include: bombing the schools (to clarify for our MEA union friends: I mean schools of fish), killing them with a virus, an oil slick on top of the water, killing all the plankton in the area, releasing whatever eats the carp into the water, hiring pet food companies to catch them sans bureaucracy, etc.etc.etc. The problem is that no one thinks.

Cox can zero in on the Supreme Court and be a political opportunist all he wants, but this is the result of the entire region's state governments operating just like Mike Cox: within our broken system of established protocols and bureaucratic guidelines...

Asian Carp and other invasive species are 21st century problems that they're trying to solve with 20th century methods. Cox has shown, here, that he's a resourceful 1970's lawyer...a fact that disqualifies him, in my books, for Michigan's governor in the 21st century.

Fair trade proponents live in a looney universe: what evidence do you have that politicians, government, and corporations are going to institute self-damaging, 'fair' policies to 'help third world countries?' They dont. Since 'fair trade' started after colonialism ended, former colonies have gotten poorer and mother nations richer.

Mutually beneficial, free-trade policies permit the free flow of $capital$ between two nations. This allows an investor to build a factory in a God-forsaken, poor part of the world in order to unlock their individual genius and wealth-creating capacity. This has proven to be enough for poor individuals to quickly pull themselves out of absolute poverty and improve their standard of living.

It all happens while supplying the investor's nation-of-origin with staple goods cheap enough so individuals and businesses can amass side $capital$ to develop and purchase the technologies and products of tomorrow.

In the long run, both nations get richer and the weaker nation is protected from its neighbors by the strong nation's naval and air power.

The Nature of Homosexuality

So, how controversial do you think this is? Immediate responses to my detailing this to anyone has been immediate, angry denial. It's like the medieval Catholic response to Galileo!

Homosexuality is not just a life choice.

a. From my studies on the subject, I've garnered that homosexuality (particularly male) begins in the womb with a deficiency in androgenic (gender-making) hormones. For instance, a gay male was probably exposed to either too much androgenizing hormones in the womb without a significant difference between the amounts.

b. The lack of a significant ratio favoring testosterone (for males, both sex hormones for females) generally results in 'brain malformation' (i.e. it didnt form right, see below) while the increased levels of androgenic hormones results in the 'hypermasculine' traits of gay males: higher mean sexual partnership, larger genitalia, more testosterone, and deeper voices.

c. This malformation typically manifests in the areas of the brain which are sexually 'dimorphic' (Women have symmetrical brains with a higher rate of transfer between the lobes, resulting in better language skills while men have a large left brain resulting in better math and logic skills). A gay males' brains are usually symmetrical while almost always feminine in the areas that are sexually dimorphic (this is based on the severity of the amount and the ratio); the left side of a lesbian's brain doesnt explode or anything, but the dimorphic areas are masculine (particularly for the 'butch' lesbians)

d. Thus it can be extrapolated that, to the cries of feminists, homosexuality is largely reliant on the presence of a male androgenic hormones (being in a woman, exposure is typically constant in amount of feminine hormones). This makes it a form of autism (which is a severe limitation of natural brain functions due to the presence of male hormones in the womb).

e. From this and the experiments regarding autism, prenatal testosterone supplements treat autism at large, but have had huge success curing homosexuality.

Islam and Negative Patriotism

September 11, 2001 ignited anew the expression of patriotism in our world. As it has progressed, that patriotism, as patriotism does, has become both positive, as in the faith in Americans and their America, as well as negative, which pushes a view that others are 'bad.'

Those 'others' have, primarily, been Muslims, of course. While we all understand that the radical, strap-a-bomb-on-and-kill-a-crowd crazies arent the same as most Americans following Islam. It is entirely antithetical to the American ideal to have a 'negative' patriotism. However, 'Moderate' Muslims have become a 'target' of this phenomenon because of their seeming inability to answer tough questions about their religion and differentiate themselves from the fundamentalists.

Tough questions like: why do you support a guy, Muhammad, who beat his wives, led an army, and said "I am the prophet that laughs when killing my enemies.” (Hadith)? I have not heard any Muslim organizations explaining how Islam is a 'religion of peace' while involving facts like '1 in every 55 verses in the Muslim Quaran and Hadith are concerned with Allah instructing his followers to make war on unbelievers.' These are hard questions, but Islam has to answer them: it's part of the clash with modernity which the Islamic community is currently involved in.

When Christianity clashed with modernity, there was this little tiff called the Reformation which was followed by several wars (Protestant split from Catholic church). There was a lot of the stuff we're seeing today in Islam back in Europe when that was going on (citizen vs. citizen; a lot less destructive given that they had to duel with foils and muskets). Hopefully, there will be radical changes to Islam itself...or more Muslims will simply convert and be saved :)

Why I Oppose War in the Republican Tradition

Many of you have seen me advocate support for our troops in Iraq and Afghanistan, many of you have read posts on why we cannot pull out and why we need to win. I feel that I need to clarify my anti-war, pro-troop stance and, perhaps, give all of you a little to think about. I'll do this through a comment conversation I've had with a friend on Facebook (I am sorry for how long this is). The comments have ended with my most recent post, but I will update if he replies.

Intro: I had posted a link and expressed my hatred of humanistic solutions and the destruction they cause (the hyperlinked Wiki page is very biased in favor of Humanism, it is much more specific then the European authors of that page have detailed).

My friend, Nevin, responded with this:

Nevin: I think that anti-war posturing i've heard you making is one of those ''humanist solutions" you talk of. meaning the ones that leave a lot of destruction and unintended consequences in their wake.

Me: If being anti-war is to be intrinsically linked to humanism, we're definitely headed for WW3. I oppose war not on a respect for the human being (if human beings make wars, how can a humanist oppose it?) but on a respect for life & the idea that a nation can sin by sending its citizens to kill. While it's stupid to take war off the table, it has been WAY too common for our nation in the past 125 years and especially in the last 20. You can call it humanistic if youd like, but humanism in and of itself is not theistic and, therefore, is incompatible with my stances.

Nevin: my point is that wars are actually good for life. If you have a respect for life, deeper study in the matter should take you to the conclusion I'm at right now; that war is a good thing for life. Lets leave the theology out of this and look at it from a scientific perspective, like a good political scientist would do. Even from the theological perspective, killing isn't sin. Anyway, humans going to war with each other helps keep population densities down to a more sustainable level. World population at present is not a sustainable thing, which means we need war and we need it now.

Me: lol I would have to say that there are no 'good' political scientists...and to be a good political scientist you must be theological ;) Those who wrote the Constitution and the Declaration were theological, werent they? ;)

This has to be long to counter the incredible stupidity of the statement 'we need war.'

Looking at the resource-technology squares (which i will draw and post on friday if you want me to), as you expand tech capabilities, you expand available resources. For instance, a Japanese farmer gets 16 times the yield per acre our farmers do and we get upwards of 30x the amount African farmers do...so, using mathematics, the world would be entirely fed if Americans produced the same amount per acre as the Japanese do and the market distributed it effectively. As for the availability of fresh water: Tokyo, Beijing, and New York purify dramatic amounts of water for their citizens.

What does this all mean? Dont be an idiot, Nev, we do not 'need' war as a way to bring down population; to see it that way is very shortsighted and does not take in the lessons of history. If the Chinese on the eastern coast all used the methods of modern Africans to acquire suitable living conditions for that 1.1billion people, there wouldnt be 1.1billion people on the coast. There is a pressing need for an massive increase in the market's ability to distribute resources to those who need them.

In the 1930s in America, bad government policies under the Agriculture Adjustment Admin. mandated crops to be slashed and burned just 50 miles outside Topeka, Kansas as people in Topeka, Kansas starved to death. In the United States today, the government stores billions of pounds of food until it rots while thousands of children in Africa starve to death. We have effectively developed the free market to meet our needs at home, now we have to export that, and the food that comes with it, to the closed places of the world. The problem here is the UN and the EU (and the WTO and the IMF...etcetc): they block most of these proposals because major member nations (China, Japan, UK, France, Russia, us) continue to extract natural resources out of the 'former colonies' in Africa. Those who are extracting are allied with African dictators and so-called "illiberal democracies" who further block/take the aid shipments international organizations dont stop.

Here is where theology comes in: the Church can bypass all that bullsh*t...and they do. Though, instead of going over on just another mission trip, why not work to supply these mission groups with big government aid packages to be delivered and distributed by faith-based volunteers? Bush got that and pushed for it. Obama does not and is opposing it.

War is stupid, better government is necessary.

Nevin: The founding fathers were not particularly theological. They were mostly all masons, and were a lot closer to pagans or atheists than they were what you would probably consider pius christians.

Let say humanity went the route you're speaking of here. Lets try to predict where that is going to take us and the world.

Lets say we get africa to start farming with better techniques. In fact lets say we get the whole world farming with the best techniques for efficient farming we know of. Prices go down, living becomes easier, become a lot less concerned with how many kids they have and population continues to expand. However efficient your farming methods are, they aren't infinite, so once your population reaches a point that a certain plot of land can no longer feed them, what will that population do? Expand out past the edge of wherever their current farming ends.

This cant go on and on into infinity, because there is only so much space on our planet. I'm sure at some point you had one of those science classes where they tell you about the cycle of life, and organism A eats B, B eats C, C eats D, D eats A sort of thing. Larger in scope, but you understand the concept. If one organism disrupts the cycle of life it will eventually come back on them. For example, if we just kept expanding our farming, we'd be depleting sh*t loads of everything in the process, but lets just talk about the rainforest for instance. If we clear all the trees and vegitation so that we can feed more people from farming, there wouldn't be enough oxygen being produced, not to mention all the effects to the life cycle not having a rainforest would do.

So I hope this makes it clear, that there is a point of critical mass we can reach where we will have no option other than to fight each other over resources. We would be quite foolish to ever take the situation on this planet anywhere near that point. Which is why a good means of keeping our population at sustainable levels is absolutely necessary for the continuation of life on this planet, or we could have another mass extinction.

I think war, with a set of intelligently designed rules and regulations for it, is the best way to control our population, as opposed to birth control and one child policies like China has enacted. That is a connected topic, and its tough to see why war would be better, but it is. Is there anything you would further dispute here?

Me: For their time, the Founding fathers were very theological...by today's standards? Not that much, but we cannot project modern values on them and their (it might be said "wacko theological") contemporaries i.e. soldiers.

Theoretically, technology can expand resources indefinitely. If there is 'only so much space on our planet,' we'll find another one. Hydroponic farming in laboratories has increased even the Japanese farming techniques by more than a hundred fold in yield. We simply need to invest heavily in these techniques (Detroit is probably the best place to begin large-scale hydroponics...they have a very large number of unemployed, many empty buildings, and an incredible amount of potential that is suppressed by union culture and horrid schools) and bring it to profitability. Do not be European and put an artificial limit on resources...that is the path to rationing and, given the response to this health care artificial limitation: that is NOT the way we do things this side of the pond. We overcome our problems with production; that is why there are no limits to where this people can go.

In the 60's and 70's, the Soviets were designing a type of submarine...not your average, everyday type of submarine. This one would hold enough nuclear power to eliminate an EIGHTH of the EARTH. For example: BAM! and 1/8 of the planet's crust would be gone. They were going to design 9 of them....8 to destroy the world and 1 to especially nuke the Great Lakes region. They would be detonated if communism failed: if the Soviet Union lost the Cold War. Thankfully, this was denied halfway in...but only because it would destroy the 'other communist nations' and 'proletariats,' not because it was evil.

I'm curious, Nev, why not kill yourself? And, on that note, why not systematically hunt down all your facebook friends and kill them? Your parents and grandparents, your brothers and sisters. Annette Richards? Michael Dean? Surely this would keep the population down nice and well.

Catch your tongue and consider what it would be like if it was done to you: if you, or the young lady youre interested in, fought, suffered, and died in one of your wars. Me? I'm not going to risk a cousin or a brother in a war I wont fight in unless it is undeniably necessary. Even then, I would seek daily absolution for that most egregious sin.

I'm just sad that the Goldwater/Reagan anti-war Republican standing broke down under Bush. Throughout the 20th century, war was always a Democrat going to the other side of the world and trying/failing to change it. Sarah Palin, Sexism, and Board Games

The other day, I was playing Harry Potter Clue with Katelyn, my brother, and his friend. In the game, the rules are largely sex-neutral (there is a small thing about the gender of the character you play as, but it is statistically unnoticeable) and this got me to thinking: why cant we just have rules like that in society?

A friend of mine, as well as several other males, are very good conservatives but are virulently sexist. They wont admit it directly due to the social stigma, but they wont give specifics as to why they wouldnt support Sarah Palin as a candidate in 2012. The only logical conclusion is a hidden, perhaps unknown even to them, gender bias. If Palin represents the 'New-er Feminism' as the cover of Newsweek says, does my friend and those of like-mind represent the 'New Sexism?'

To answer the question, both phrases must be defined. I see it as obvious that Palin's feminism deviates from the Left's model by centering it not on what Democrats want women to be, but on women's self-determination. For example, if she wants to be a stay-at-home mom, 'hear her roar.' However, this also entitles women to choose to be moral figures. Radical, cut-men-to-pieces feminists will say that is simply a regression to pre-liberation oppression and, thus, deny support those who advocate such moralities as a pro-life agenda or small government - like Sarah Palin. The picture above illustrates this beautifully; it's pretty simple to see how factually incorrect the poster is (no woman has ever been as close to the presidency). It's also a demonstration of how stupid the Democratic party thinks we are. However, I'd like to propose that we make the social, political, and economic milieu (environments) allowing of full, individual prosperity for all people.

I do not mean only 'economic' prosperity; in 1964, Barry Goldwater said that "it is the socialist who subordinates an entire individual to their economic standing" while forgetting the spiritual, familial, and all the other tenets of personal prosperity and happiness. Advancing women does not just mean having female CEO's. I advocate rights and equal treatment for all people: this means getting rid of welfare initiatives politically targeted at females. This means scrapping race-based, sex-based, faith-based, and any other nonessential predisposition of any governmental recognition of the individual.

Like Harry Potter Clue and other board games, our rules need to recognize people as free players on the great stage of life, nothing more and certainly nothing less. A simple recognition such as this allows you and I to determine who we want to be, regardless of any preset characteristics bureaucrats and politicians believe we should have. So, to you so-called 'feminists,' I, a conservative male, am a more progressive, more forward thinking feminist than you are. If you support women and only women, you must start supporting Sarah Palin for President. I, on the other hand, havent decided who I will support; but I can assure you that, unlike 'New Sexists,' I will weigh all candidates on balanced scales over the next three years.

As we continue to endure this recession, as more people lose work, and more savings evaporates, Obama continues to assemble monuments to himself. The latest is his presiding over a UN meeting in which the Security Council passed a meaningless paper resolution to "end nukes." He's passed an unbelievable and dangerous number of multiple-billion dollar programs (ranging from the $1.2 billion 'Making Home Affordable' to the $1,200billion 'stimulus' plan). Now, he seeks to impress upon us a fact-denying, ludicrous health care plan, energy tax, and union-coercion act. For me, these monuments show that he wishes to be the Father of the American Socialist State.

Does he wish a statue of himself, molded of gold and silver, to indoctrinate students that pass and look up at the leader who destroyed their world? Does he want to be a successful where Woodrow Wilson was a failure: in setting up a New World Order?

Does Mr. Obama not know that the tides of history will wash away his sandcastles?

No matter what monuments he builds to himself, Obama's nuke-free utopian fantasy along with his gambling with Europe's safety will disintegrate all in radioactive fire. His bureaucracies, though they are the closest thing to immortal life we see here on earth, will rust and crumble; his statues, fall.

We've always had two great parties in this country and they are not the Republicans and the Democrats. We must offer the bold, historical choice between the party of big government and national failure, and the party of the American people and freedom and renewal. We must choose to be the latter and we can bring realism, sensibility, and stability back to this world. Only real change and realism in the tri-partisan tradition will fix America, and the New Republicans can do it. God's not finished with us just yet.

A Time for Choosing

There's been a flurry of reports in the last few months over Afghanistan. As you may have read or heard, things are getting worse: July and August were the worst months in years of the war in terms of casualties. I wouldnt be complete if I didnt mention that some of the problem is Obama's fault. He put in place several directives to "protect civilians;" being that our enemies use these civilians as shields, these policies have resulted in some casualties on our side. With the politicking out of the way, I can get to the necessary facts.

Michael Mullen, US Joint Chiefs of Staff chairman - a big guy in the military, first called for more troops in Afghanistan (sending 21,000 during the Afghan elections) and "stalled" on liberal calls for allowing morale-damaging gays in the military. Doing his job (read: these two grievous offenses) provoked Sen. Susan Collins (D-somewhere) to request a review of the 'rules of engagement' from Mullen (meaning that she doesnt have confidence in his work). In the executive branch, the reaction has been much less exciting: Obama has stated that he will not make an 'immediate' decision on sending more troops and that he's going to be boring and "take a very deliberate process" of decision. In other words, Obama has reached a time for choosing and he doesnt know what to do - therefore he pulls over his legacy from the senate...and does nothing.

On the side seemingly pressuring him towards giving up on the war is the chairman of the Senate Armed Services Committee, Michigan's wonderful senior senator (who hits the deck if an engine backfires) Carl Levin, seems to think he and his life of Lansing, caviar and fine wine are better suited to make military judgment calls than those who eat MRE's and sleep in foxholes outside Kabul. He's supported by the liberal lifestyle groups, European socialist nations, and my more libertarian friends. Cumulatively, this support is a remnant of the arthritic "New Left" who would scrap the war effort on the advice of a few misguided, anti-pragmatic leftist faculty members who, themselves, are holed up in a fantasy world. This, however, is the world Obama comes from.

Thus his choice: he can choose to side with those who actually understand the issue, or he can play politics, satisfy his base, and secure renomination. Judging from the Guantanamo Bay Prison issue (where Obama decided to close it against common sense, the majority of the American people, and Dick Cheney), Obama will side with his Lefty base in order to gin-up sufficient inflammation to pass the energy tax, health care, and "card check." On the other hand, Dem Sen. Max Baucus' Gang of 6 (which includes John McCain...the ranking Senate Armed Services Committee Republican, who fervently disagrees with Levin's anti-war recommendation) has just released a misguided health insurance bill that will need some GOP support to have legitimacy post-passage. Upon the desk in the oval office sits one choice: it is a complex choice when viewed through a political lens yet a simple one if based in common sense.

If he decides pragmatically, Obama will apply Patraeus' model in Iraq (troop surge, essentially) with a little flexibility to compensate for Afghanistan's historical lack of a developed government. This choice will get harder and the conditions worse the longer he puts it off; regardless of what he decides, his decision will dramatically shape the future of the Obama presidency. I, for one, hope the president makes the prudent one.

College is bad and adolescence is worse

So, I've just started my second week of torture at Grand Valley State University and am already seeing a white imprint of I must not tell lies on the back of my hand. As opposed to this view, most people see college as an important growth stage between high school and adulthood. Herein lies the rub: I am already an adult.

That statement is not just an immature rambling of a teenager wishing he were older: there is evidence that I and others see. To name a few: I connect with very few people my own age, I associate much more with people far older than I am, and I am set in who I am. This drives a very divisive wedge between me and my classmates with the most relevant example that I think and live for 100 years from now while a good 80% of them live for friday night. Many of my classmates are here because they are supposed to be, they are here to develop themselves as people and change their fundamentals which will lead, presumably, to their building a personality upon these changed principles.

If youre a friend of mine or a long time reader, you understand that I know who I am. The difficulty of this relatively simple advancement in maturity is far tougher for many people to empathize with than one would suppose. As those my age in my life change, our relationship -and I as a person- become(s) somewhat of a relic of a past life to them.

I dont write this as an angst-filled projection of my feelings, but a real analysis of what I, and others like me, go through in a culture dominated by central ideas. This process is not unique in history whatsoever, but its frequent occurance in the textbooks doesnt make it right nor tolerable. Like single mothers, I and others must face or deflect hard, teary realities our peers are simply exempt from.

Now, let me go on record saying that I choose to face and not deflect them. Confronting ones problems and not dismissing them from thought is a key step in maturity, one I have passed yet others seem to linger behind. Whatever happens, I know that I am actuated in this human struggle by a higher Being and I pray He grant guidance to me and to all of you that survived reading this post :)

Fascist Michigan?

Hello again...I apologize for the delay, but I have been getting settled in here at GVSU and that point has finally come...now I can write about something that has been irking me for a while.

As you know, Granholm has been awarding these single tax incentives to single companies in the tradition of Spartan Stores and Meijer being written into the state tax code (Examples: 1, 2, 3). This will***** create a comparative handful of jobs based around 'green' things over the next few years.

These tax incentives show that Granholm accepts the premise that lower taxes bring jobs to Michigan. She is, however, giving these on an ad hoc basis to companies that will forward what she sees as her 'legacy.' However, she's enacting her economic plan to blow us away, or as we here in reality call it, a Fascist model of planning the private sector.

I'm serious. You know I'm not one to make seemingly outrageous claims like this...but Granholm's case-by-case evaluation of privately owned corporations for move-inducing tax incentives is the defintion of 'soft-Fascism.' 'Feds No Friend to Michigan'

When times are tough, it is always instinctive to look to a friend for help. With state budget deficits and unemployment soaring, more and more people are looking to Washington for help. I have to express caution about any effort to land help from the federal government.

The feds are no friend to Michigan, and examples of their “help” leave Michigan taxpayers poorer and more frustrated than when they first needed aid. Michigan’s infrastructure, roads and bridges are in dreadful shape. In looking to the feds for help with fixing these, our state receives back 92 cents for every Michigan taxpayer dollar we send to Washington in the form of the federal gas tax. The U.S Department of Transportation does send more money to MDOT, but the feds tie strings to it, forcing Michigan to spend the money on highway rest stops. Even if Michigan’s dire need is for roads, Washington forces us to rebuild highway rest stops and our state loses the money if we do not spend it in that manner.

When our “friends” in the federal government passed the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, better known as the stimulus bill, to “create jobs,” only 12 percent of the $7 billion translated into infrastructure projects. Some might argue that state government is so intertwined with the feds that the two are not friends but in fact dating. If this is the case, Michigan is in an abusive relationship or dating a control freak. Either way, we have to question any friendship that makes us buy highway rest stops when we need roads.

Socialized health care...leftism as an umbrella concept...works to best streamline society to take according to one's abilities and invest according to one's needs. When you can eliminate people having needs (i.e. aborting/killing...'euthanizing,' 'dying with dignity'...them allows for more to be pooled per capita in the whole. It makes total utilitarian sense to simply dispose of the handicapped and the retired for they do not produce into the nation's economic well being. Obama's health care plan is now and will come down to utilitarian thinking..."are you, cancer patient, worth the investment? Is there an acceptable chance you will live and produce into the pool more than you are drawing for this treatment?"...I simply cant accept objectifying human beings into a grand economic scheme...this is why I opposed the MI Legis. bill to fund abortions as way to reduce social services costs...this is why I oppose this healthcare plan. Not one of our ancestors that made America great thought just of dollar signs and budget items, we lead the world because of the human factor: the freedom factor.

We live in a country where the people run the government, right? No, of course not...it wasn't set up that way and doesn't exist today. There are elements, however, that run on 'direct democracy.' These are purportedly at the state and local levels with specific concentrations in states that were overwhelmingly Populist or Progressive just over 100 years ago. Alas, the tides have turned against this noble, American tradition, we see its demise in Saugatuck...

When a millage is voted down as the Saugatuck school millage was on the basis of school administration mishandling money, is it really democracy to propose the millage over and over until it passes? There shouldn't be anything as a 'routine election result' in this country...it's bad for democracy and horribly for our government.

Routine elections breed complacency with problems and an opposition to new ideas. This comfort of position is the singular reason it took 25 years to add a new lane to the runway at the Atlanta airport...and why it's necessary to shut down the bureaucracy in Michigan to effect change. This is not a sustainable path we are on...it is our responsibility as citizens and conservatives to break the machine...

Do it...teach the kids fancying themselves administrators in Saugatuck a lesson and vote no. Speaking as a former student in Hamilton, it would be great for the Saugatuck imports to attend the state's finest high school.

FD-Obama?

Just thought I'd write a short post to put a few predictions on record...S.L.P (Standard Liberal Procedure) is going to govern the defeat of Obama's health care takeover as it will Obama's Cap and Tax (is that what people are calling it?). Newt Gingrich has foretold the end of Obama's health care tyrannization and has chalked it up to taxes...this means conservative roots still draw pract in America, but they need to be fertilized...same goes, in my opinion, for Obama's euthanization of manufacturing in America.

Americans want health care reform and we want to serve as good stewards of the environment both for our children and for our future selves, but we are too smart for Obama and see past these EuroFail-inspired plans.

My predictions:

Obama's failures are going to be blamed on the "American unwillingness to sacrifice" for our "fellow citizens of the world." Basically, "you dont want higher taxes and that's a bad thing." They're going to pull out all the liberal stops in 2012 (this guy is the Democrat Machine's greatest hope of survival in the 21st century) and call in race, media, etc. etc.

We'll be told we are a backwards nation, that we have to "give to ensure the independence and prosperity of all" (commit to a welfare state). He'll probably even make a "Four Freedoms" deal with the nation (FDR's speech focusing on the "Freedom from Want" outlining his hopes for a New-Deal-Inspired welfare state....the "Four Freedoms" were freedom from want/fear, freedom of worship/speech).

They'll tell us that we've never known a "peace in the world so sweet" or a "prosperity so rich;" maybe it'll be that we are, due to the ARRA, on a clear "launching pad into the future."

We can beat all of this...with campaign contributions and banding together as Republicans :) This same process has played out numerous times over the last century...we beat it in '20, '68, '80, and 2000: we can do it again...we just have to try this time.

A Full Moon, A Lasting Peace

I've been sitting here under a brilliant full moon pondering those unanswerable questions reserved for the night when I happened upon the concept of the moon's phasing, constant vigil over our horizons...this Creator's Peace, if you will, is something we should always seek. Of course, our human flaws will prevent us from ever finding an eternal peace on Earth, it is in the quest for a lasting peace that we must find our purpose.

Here the lyrics of a country song come to mind: "Somewhere in the race we run, we're coming undone...." We strive, more and more, for personal gratification; socialists and liberals who subordinate a man's entire meaning to his economic position will tell you we, in our greed, strive for economic prosperity and personal enrichment. I've never understood why this is bad...economic gain is a tool, the use of which is very diverse and very individual. Broadly, however, we use our economic wealth for personal gratification in one form or another.

The Xbox game that costs $60, buying processed wood to construct a piece of furniture, smoking, "tricking out" your car: all examples of personal gratification purchased through economic welfare. Where I propose we are 'coming undone' is in the progressive expression of this prosperity. At this point, you are shaking your heads saying, "I buy what I want with my money!" and that is all fine and well. But we are losing our way, 'coming undone,' by being idiot consumers in our quest for gratification.

I, myself, fall victim too often to the powers of laziness and disregard the impact of purchasing something small from a company that abuses its workers overseas. As a conservative (oh jeez, a political word), I am committed to a lasting peace, my fellow man, and the idea that a rising tide lifts all ships: prosperity. These are all undermined by ignoring the ripple of buying shoes from an Indonesian Reebok supplier refusing to put finger guards on sewing machines or picking up jeans from a Levi Strauss supplier which employs children (both abuses have been targeted and solved). We dont think much of it, but when you and I empower the belief in state-run living by buying the "Made in China" label, we add to the growing mountains of lead-ridden plastic crap piled on our vessel of peace, pressing our hull deep into the dark waters of war.

We are, even now, embroiled in a cultural and military war with radical Islamists; they fight against what we have allowed ourselves to become: conformist, slavish, Tickle-Me-Elmo, YES-WE-CAN maniacs. I am weary of this war. A lasting peace with Moslems and the world comes not from Washington nor from any of the powers that be. Our endowed freedom comes with the responsibility of self-determination: we have to decide who we, individually, are going to be.

This is the rendezvous with destiny of our time: when people are tired and hungry and scared, they turn to liberals, socialists, and fascists who promise them food, freedom, and power yet deliver none. Free markets and free enterprise always deliver prosperity, but it is up to each of us to decide that it will be the right kind of prosperity to make people free and to promote a lasting peace on Earth.

100th Post: In-Dependence Day

Happy 4th, everyone....As a student of history, I enjoy celebrating a band of hardy revolutionaries out to create a nation 233 years ago. Not only is this a special milestone for our nation, it's a special milestone for our small Conservababble family...you've survived 100 posts (according to Blogger's counter, not my own)! Anyway, while we have illustrated our independence daily by living out those beliefs opposed to the concerted machine, there is a certain irony to celebrating our nation's independence.

On this day, I ask you to celebrate our rich, independent history while expressedly mourning the dependence of our people. Is it not the people that make this country America? Why, then, do we celebrate American independence when so many are and will be dependent on government for their economic (and, for liberals, spiritual) well-being? The Congressional Budget Office released a report titled the "Long-Term Budget Outlook," a lengthy report from which media outlets get their doom-and-gloom numbers. It details how defecits will hit 7.5% of GDP in 2020, 15% in 2035, and "well over" 45% at the end of the 75-year budget window. The CBO blames grandma's and Mr. Schuur's dependence on government for these defecits.

Are they right? Of course...in the report, they detailed that retirees are to blame for 64% of entitlement growth (which is interesting to note...who makes up the 46%?)...this number will, of course, grow as baby boomers begin to retire. This is the situation we're seeing in California right now....they've exceeded the ability to keep people dependent...therefore are abolishing totally a working framework in favor of unsustainability and destruction of wealth.

I read somewhere that 32% of Americans directly derive their economic well-being from the government...I'd really like that stat's location, but I cant find it. These people were described as teachers, police, bureaucrats, politicians, military men and women, among other things. I think that number is too high...this is not France or Sweden...this is something we need to fix.

So, tonight, when you are 'celebrating with great revelry' and launching your fireworks, remember those indignant souls culturally brainwashed and accepting your money. Happy In-Dependence day, folks, lets hope we have another.

Blood on the Potatoes: To Gov. Sanford

The title of this post (and its brevity) descends from my peeling my index finger while preparing potatoes at work today...and I'd like to relate it to Gov. Sanford's 'sex scandal.'

Maybe its just because I've lived with the fact my father had an affair nearly all my life, but I don't think Gov. Sanford ought to resign.... So what? He peeled his finger while doing a good and fast job peeling the potatoes of superfluous government and exposing hearty liberty. When I nicked my finger a little, I didn't simply stop peeling potatoes, that would have been the coward's way out: my fear would have won; instead, I continued what I had been doing before albeit a little more carefully at first.

Governor Sanford has been doing a great, fearless job in South Carolina...his mistake merely reveals that he is human. To give up and resign now lets Democrats, the media, GOP leadership, and his own fear deny all the good he's done in subordination to something half of them are doing right now.

This is my open statement to Gov. Sanford: hang in there...these things pass: look at Newt Gingrich's marital history, it's 100 times worse than yours yet he's still a name routinely mentioned to lead the party of reform. We may be silenced by a political establishment that shuts our brand out, but don't let them shut you down...we still have strong fingers to type strong and clear words to the American people: you, Gov. Palin, Gov. Romney, and others....if you give into them, that's one bloody stump closer to an unclear, muddled, and losing message. And if that happens, the potato skin of tyranny will block the enjoyment of liberty until the whole crop rots in a thousand years of darkness.

Are the fat ladies singing in Holland?

It's official....officials in the Holland area have floated (no pun intended) the idea of grovelling in front of Washington/FEMobamA for help with their little bit of water...WHY? Let's answer the question from an individual's point of view...

The city of Holland is like a homeowner...their basement got wet (very wet), as did their car. Now, if this homeowner was intelligent and thoughtful, they either bought flood insurance if availiable, have an emergency savings account, or are allowed lines of credit. The logical course of action would be to remove everything from harms way (enlisting the assistance of neighbors to whom this individual would return future help if anything happened to them) and then pull in repair funds from insurance, savings, and/or by taking out a loan. What, then, is the FEMA-equivalent in this metaphor? God.

I've always been raised on the idea that "God helps those who help themselves" and it fits: the city of Holland psuedo-conservatives wish to pray to FEMA/Obama for intervention. If an individual did this, they would sit on the entry floor's comfiest couch and pray that God would make everything right downstairs...would he? Probably not. Will FEMA? Probably not.

God could get rid of your basement's problem by burning your house down (it would be fittingly ironic)...FEMA will make everything right by moving thousands out of their houses and into "temporary" trailers while they paid thousands to go to lunch, break things, and stand around watching city employees do work...oh, and they would put signs in that say "This assistance brought to you by President Barack Obama, our lord and savior."

According to the metaphor of the homeowner (within which is my advice to individuals with basements flooded: buck up and do it yourself), the course of action for Holland is simple: enlist help from surrounding counties based on a gentlemens' agreement of an 'owed favor,' pull out some loans, draw off your savings (which you should have, always), and work the union guys beyond union limits paying time-and-a-half...after the job is done, ensure that future heavy rainfalls will be efficiently drained into the Big Water right next door.

We have local governments for a reason...as far as I know, the local governments are still standing so there is no need for FEMA mobile bases...buck up and do it yourself!

A Night Without the Internet!!!

I cant help but comment on the awesomeness of the storms last night....but, thankfully, I had only left my laptop at Katelyn's and our power, thanks to a wonderful nuclear plant just south of here, stayed on.

Just wanted to drop a few lines about the media response as well as the preparedness of our area for the flooding....

Point 1: Why dont reporters help anybody? Back when the norovirus was hitting Hope, the reporters didnt help anyone get out before it was quarantined and, last night, WOOD TV 8's reporters just stood there and watched people get stranded...its sad, really.

Point 2: I was told that last night's kind of rain happened about 10 years ago...and again last year...and, of course, this year. I wonder what can be done...what great undertakings can be accomplished at your local (and I mean LOCAL) town hall to prepare West Michigan for these regular floodings? We have one of the biggest lakes in the world right next to us...we just need to dump the water into it...very easy, yet so hard.

Recognizing Real Economic Recovery

I've come up with a method of tracking economic gains in your area...on your own. It all started with the question: "Why the heck do we watch the stock market anymore?" It's so very politicized and, thus, gimp as an economic tracker. Same goes for the Treasury department and all the other 'politically recognized' tracking institutions along with all their numbers, figures, and projections. My alternative: food serving staff.

Waiters and waitresses, restaurants and bars: these jobs are a direct beneficiary of real economic recovery. If property ownership is easily and plausibly attained, they can own houses; if real unemployment begins falling and consumer confidence is really on the rise, tip revenue rises and the work/reward ratio becomes more favorable. When the economy falters in one area or another, these 'little guys' suffer much more than others and in much more diversified ways.

This diversification enables a secure tracking system no matter what policies businesses have to......endure; for instance, if taxes climb and reduce extra cash-on-hand, servers at Restaurant Toulouse in Saugatuck suffer more than, say, a Bob Evans franchise. Well...there's more to this line of thinking but I think I've gotten the basic point across...some econ nerd should test this theory out...

I hope you're all well and surviving Il Duce...Katelyn's mother was talking to the few of us sometime over the weekend about something to do with Obama's car companies (I have a bad memory...just look at my report cards) and reminded all of us to accept that we cant change Granholbama's policies and that we must acheive our happiness through looking forward to the bright, post-Obama future for America's.

Facebook politics

We all know that there is a tremendous impact on our culture from emerging social networks...yet older generations are largely absent from this sphere.

One application I use when discussing this impact is in the realm of workers' unions...my argument is, simply, that Facebook makes a continuous union entirely irrelevant. With real-time group updates, any employee can communicate en mass with all other employees; if there is a perceived abuse (lets say a contract violating staff meeting OMGrsh!!), the employee that feels strongly about it could contact all others and organize resistance against said staff meeting very quickly...and for *free.* This bypasses all need of and all use for union personnel which have classically been committed to doing said organizing for a living. Further, this decentralizes 'the union' to the point where it not only gets back to caring about the workers, it is composed entirely of small, voluntary efforts directly from professionally equal workers. The most recognizable flaw in that framework is human laziness and the will to $pay$ a bit to have someone else make your career decisions. Regardless, this is a small-scale example of the greater decentralization of American culture.

Our nation began as one focused as much as possible on decentralization of power and culture. As we "progressed," we happened upon a little guy named FDR and the trend was reversed until, as technology has progressed, we return to the upward course toward a generally decentralized culture (not government....in a democracy, political changes always follow cultural changes). We can use television as an illustration: in the 50's, you have 5 shows to watch at any given time; today you have (in my household) over 900. The difference isn't just the amount of channels, of course, its what is on: today's shows/songs/entertainment are much more tailored to specific demographics and lives where people will be most comfortable with them...this is at direct opposition to the beginning days of TV where, if you were to watch television, you had to accept culture you weren't used to...this socialized a more monolithic cultural unity.

Today, I don't have to watch MTV or other liberal stations. I can watch a Fraiser re-run every night, be entirely content and fully secure in my cultural identity. This disassociates me with Monica Conyers, Hank Williams Jr., Pierre from Montreal, Adolf from Germany, Abib from Saudi Arabia, etc. etc. With our type of selective data accessibility, we don't have to see outside our adopted norms nor do we have to even speak with people from our colleges.

My Blackberry Pearl allows me to just speak with Katelyn and a handful of pre-existing friends; if I choose, I don't ever have to 'make' friends again and it's not even necessary that I speak to my Laker peers. I can block all but an isolated group of peers from my Facebook StalkerFeed (a list of news on what your 'Friends' are doing). Effectively, we can cut ourselves off from any and all socialization beyond that which has already occurred...and we do.

As stated above, this is nothing new: geographically-based social isolation is in our American blood! The post-war rise of the 'sub-division,' small towns ('nuff said), pop-culture-famous neighborhoods in New York City, lifestyle based isolation (Saugatuck/Douglas), immigrant communites (Holland, Chinatown): these all have existed for hundreds of years and all are based around the cultural pluralism that existed at the Founding. Now, the current trend is nothing bad...you cant stop it, I cant stop it, and the government surely cant stop it.

The latter point destroys hope for a D.C. central government with anything above basic power: decentralization of culture MUST be followed by a return to the wells of democracy at the local and state levels. If you don't, you end up with the USSR's premiership in the Oval Office...someone (like Obama is now) who presses ideas based on the President's perceptions (which are vastly different than, say, mine) leading to totalitarian domination of segments of the population (i.e. what is typicalized as the the "white middle class" but is actually made up of all races, nationalities, religions, etc. It is the achievement class, a group centered around personal drive and capitalism, that is being targeted by this administration in favor of those Obama thinks inherently 'deserve' to be bettered.)

The threat is not that Obama is doing things "wrong" (we simply see them differently...the money is going away from us to those "deserving," but for Democrats, the money always comes from benevolent and kind government officials) but that he's being powerful, period. It's not right to force your norms and mores upon anybody, a decentralized system prevents this type of oppression. With Facebook generating 'artificial towns' and the economy being more and more online, we are shuffling to be with those we're comfortable with in settings of our liking. Socialism doesnt work because it overrides fundamental differences and dismantles productivity (See: France). The only sustainable answer is returning to localities/states, where government stays with people already on my Contact list, that think along the same lines as 'me,' and are right down the street/highway.

Journalists, Courage, and Union

I know I said I would do a tradition of Lincoln post if the news was slow...it hasnt been, but my noodle has been cooked by a recent event...

From what I've heard, two female journalists were working near the DMZ for Al Gore's company and have ended up in North Korean (commie) custody. Being that the communists of the last, oh, 185 years havent been known for their kindness and compassion, Kimmy Il sentenced them to 12 years of hard labor (a.k.a. cruel and unusual punishment) for "Grave crimes against the Korean nation."

This situation reminds me of something TR had to deal with back in 1904. For the record, TR is one of my favorite Presidents (I respect his modernization of government...more importantly, he first broached an early conservatism both at home and abroad) and I did remember much of the topic, yet I'm not that smart and did do some research.

"Perdicaris alive or Raisuli dead!"

Ion Perdicaris was a Greek-American working as the American consul to Morocco...in 1904, the diplomat-aristocrat was abducted by a rebel band (Moors titled Berbers) lead by a notorious Robin-Hood-like brigand named Raisuli. Raisuli's demands were $70,000 and some territory out of the Morrocan sultan. This didnt fly under a courageous president.

Roosevelt immediately issued the big-stick line "Perdicaris alive or Raisuli dead!" which was toned-down by John Hay, the Secretary of State, in a telegram "The government wants Perdicaris alive or Raisuli dead." Following the telegram were several warships, dispatched by a direct order from the president, and, upon their arrival, the hostages were released.

Lets compare results to Obama....the 2009 White House released this statement: "We are all focused on the journalists very closely. And by we, I mean all levels of the US [Federal] government. These are young women with families - one with a 4-year old daughter - and we are making clear to North Korea through many channels that they should be released and reunited with their families."

THAT'S NOT GOOD ENOUGH!

Liberal journalists or not, these are American citizens and it is our spineless President's JOB to get them out of there! I'm afraid that Mr. Obama will never understand that you cannot simply talk to madmen...I fear more that these women, most likely raped and tortured already, will be forgotten by a political machine too alike North Korea in its willingness to sacrifice many for an ideology.

With wimps populating the highest offices, all we can do is pray for them.

Trailing thoughts sparked by Allegan's Lincoln Day Dinner

Hello again, Katelyn and I spent the evening at a fruitfully attended Lincoln Day Dinner for Allegan County GOP earlier tonight...for those who are unfamiliar: the county GOP's have been holding Lincoln Day Dinners as fundraisers...this evening was 'ours' and I dragged Katelyn along. These events are typucalized as generally 'insider' and I'd like to comment a bit on the thoughts provoked by the two I've experienced.

For one, Katelyn and I were probably the only two people under 21 there...that's bad...it's always irked me with the defecit in Republican incursions into the 'youth vote.' Young people WANT conservative values! People dont seem to get this...Obama won a bunch of youth votes over with the word "Change;" this directly tells us one thing: young people dont like American political culture. If I could fully classify American political culture here, I'd be a much more wealthy young man (we can file that under the "Projects" catagory....right next to explaining why people vote and retracing Louis and Clark's journey via kayak)...but the pervasive idea -maybe you've noticed this- traces to government and political dialogue being dominated by 70's liberal entrenchment.

The bureaucracy is big-government liberal, the Congress has been big-government liberal for nearly a decade, Bush was being big-government liberal - Republican/Democrat, the politick walks and talks like the government is the actor. Intelligent youth who, like their Obamaniac peers, are seeking a direct outlet for these pro-change attitudes have turned to Ron Paul...one who is the true opposite of the contemporary politick. Still, both of these groups are generally small and, even then, reduce their involvement in the minimalist tradition (seeking to avoid participation in the corrupted politick they wish to change). This puts them at the same level as their apathetic peers in their understanding of the format of party politics.

In doing that, what they and most people dont understand is the remarkable lack of politics at meetings like the Lincoln Day Dinners. Perhaps my life is just so jam-packed with useless political squabbling, but I noticed that most attendees tonight mostly discussed things normal people discuss (WHAT?!?!) like how the Red Wings were doing or about 'the kids.' There is a mass issue with lumping together the real and calcuable divide: the conservative formulates political positions based on how he lives his life; the liberal conforms to positions and then bases their lives around them. I thought I'd do a quick reminder for you to not forget your local township or city meeting this month.... Ours is next week monday and, given the past few weeks' developments, it should be something 'fun.' I was reading up on local news (can we call it that?) to prepare for it when I happened upon some wonderful idiocy on the part of our township leaders: (from Heath Township Minutes)...

"The township does not know why this is taking place."
"Ron [supervisor] has spoken with one of the members and due to economic conditions they do not feel this would be a feasible issue to place before citizens as a ballot issue."
"This needs to be adopted in order for communities to remain eligible for federal and state mitigation funds. A motion was made by Boerman and supported by Schipper to adopt. All ayes. Motion carried."
"Sheila [clerk] commented he is free to contact any reporter and ask them to do an article addressing his concerns."
"Misti will contact our retired workers to fix this." For clarification, it's a gate that needs a Master Lock...
"Supervisor Jones was absent.;" "Schipper and Boerman were absent.;" "Treasurer Lindholm was absent.;" "Jones was absent."

I've made the decision to get involved because of the above list. The next predictable step is to urge you to make sure that the people your taxes are paying are actually doing their jobs...this is much more possible when these people are just 5 minutes away in one's go-mobile...that being either a legitimate car or an Obamamobile made kindly by UAW bureaucrats at Guvmint Motors....

So...go google your township or city, hit the meeting, and stir up some conservababble! American politics is opposed ( ;) ) to the economy: it's not trickle-down, our politics clamber upward...just like our president...it is up to YOU to get rid of Chicagan cesspools in your area in order to prevent more infected pols.

I have to apologize for the lack of posts in the last few months...I realize many people have forgotten about Conservababble and moved on with their lives...hopefully not under Obama's spell.

A lot has happened since March 27th and we, as a family, have to get back to pooling our ideas together...and I, personally, have a few for discussion. These will have to wait...

In the future, I want this to be an intellectual forum. For instance, I'll put up a topic with some sources and, via the anonymous comment option, you can expand on it. Does this seem like a good idea?

Further than that, I think we can expand the scope to incorporate a common-idea outreach to conservatives in crisis. This stems from a former mill(?) worker I talked to in Plainwell that was supporting Obama due to his needing the benefits the Dems promised...though he was 'one of us' before he had lost his job. This is a situation we're seeing more and more...especially as men/breadwinners are disproportionately effected by recession.

In order to win those votes, we have to win this argument. To do that, you have to reassure (i.e. use logic) a vast majority of unemployed conservatives against government "security"...this means giving to charity, studying scriptures for verbal use, talking to people you wouldnt generally discuss politics with, and anything else you can use to both divert attention away from Daddy Government and make necessary attention negative.

You and I can expand on this idea later but, for now, everyone has to keep up the fire alive within extended families and among neighbors, and co-workers. My next post will be logging what I've been doing since late March in the context of developing political relations skills....it has been interesting working in my antithesis (French restaurant in a gay mecca) and still spreading Conservababble at its usual pace.

While it is sad it brings up a good point: Liberals seem to romanicize living in a mud hut and dying of public works failing...there's no reason we should ever have to see something like that happen in America ever again.

I have to clarify, of course: the solution is not to keep dumping money into the programs as Obama is going to, but to reduce the current budget in real and creative ways. I'm essentially proposing that we rethink and reform the way governmental services are delivered (from the municiple/township level on up( and reduce cost and, therefore, taxes.

Liberal Democrat Jim Cramer was publically insulted by Partisan Demogogue, host of the Daily Show, Jon Stewart for some mistakes that he (and literally millions of others) made concerning the financial crisis as it was hatching out of its rotten Obaegg...

Cramer might be a liberal but he knows how things work (at least as much as a liberal can) and he had committed a Deadly Sin of attacking Obama's economic policies - saying that he had destroyed more wealth than any president before him...which is true. If he just made the mistake of prediction, Stewart would have never lashed out at him..it was the comment about The Obama that set the machine working against Cramer. Illustrated in this case is the ranching mentality of the Democrats modern political machine; they keep their cows/sheep/whatever in line by whipping them back into formation. (The GOP, on the other hand, keeps its troops around central principles and excommunicates those who dont follow those principles.)

So Cramer became a traitor to The Obama. Instead of dirtying himself, The Obama and his Gibbs went on sniping at Rush while the machine commissioned Jon Stewart to put Cramer in his place. This is just the bad politics of the Democratic party. They dont have, and dont want, anything but party hard-liners preaching the Socialist Gospel to all of us through the media. The reassertion of this fact came about when Cramer appeared on the Daily Show (a liberal comedy show...anything liberal is comedy, of course) and kissed Stewarts ring...an expression I heard referencing Steele and Rush.

A simple observation can be made correlating the two actions. When Steele apologized to Rush, he wasnt apologizing to the man but to the ideas he represents soley because conservatives dont put faith in people, we put faith in ourselves and in ideas that have proven true throughout history. The same holds true for Cramer...he wasnt making nice to Stewart, he was slobbering all over The Obama and his ring (The Obama's ring, unlike Stewarts, is huge...it contains the crushed dreams of millions).

If you dont like it, get out and get involved in 2010 and 2012...bring an end to The Obama's destruction of personal property.

Drip, Drop in the Cobo

Everyone has heard about the Cobo Center, right? Detroit's convention center that just happens to be, like everything else in that city, falling apart and is still being used (probably in the violation of safety codes ignored by the corrupt oversight in that city). The building, as it is possessed by Detroit/Lansing anti-auto spirits, leaked "nasty crap that came from the roof" onto a beautiful 1959 Ford Galaxy on display at 'Autorama.' Great...Detroit is so crazy that the buildings have even begun trying to destroy Michigan's heritage.

It was, what, two weeks ago that Monica Conyers and other moronic councilpersons racially denied the request to fix these kind of problems with no cost to the city? The roof leaking is just one of the many problems included in the $203million of "deferred maintinence," as Brooks Patterson cited.

Not a very intelligent move...but lets meet the (now) Detroit City Council President:

Ok...so she got her big, comfy, bribe-taking behind kicked by some very eloquent kids...that's the humorous part.

Warm Spring, Melting Snow...and Flooding.

I havent got the chance to write to my local paper about the massive amount of flooding that occurs every year as the snow melts, yet I do intend to.

Anyone living in Allegan or Ottawa (the only two counties I've been in for the last...few months...) has seen standing water around this time of year. It happened last year...and the year before that...and before that...so much so that it seems that the lake levels keep dropping because all the water has gone on an adventure! ...Right into our backyards...

Preventing widespread flooding is generally the responsibility of the Drain Commissioner...ours in Allegan county is Becky Rininger and I voted for her. I was young and naive at that time (because five months ago is that long)...I didnt remember that it floods every year and never seems to stop.

This level of flooding is plainly unreasonable. I've never met Mrs. Rininger and I probably agree with her on many things, all I can see is that the ground isnt exacly comissioned to drain properly. The ebb and flow of standing water we drive past/through every day represents something much bigger...

The people charge their government with a basic protection of their lives and property. This fact is illustrated by the water problem: we the people have given the authority to non-restrictively protect us from flooding (from molding leftovers and that fun, pull-you-and-yo'-house-away flooding). When this isnt accomplished, we have to step up, talk about it, and force some action.

Personal involvement is a cornerstone of our republic and it is true at every level: federal, state, and local. If we neglect this, the future becomes rotten with powerful bureaucrats and fringe wackos that empower these bureaucrats. These phenomena begin 99% of the time at the local level...

We dont really realize it because the media reports it the opposite way, but corruption and liberal/bureaucratic hedonism begin in all of our towns and move up through the system through the political mobility of said corruptocrats. As an example: it would have been much more possible to dismantle The Obama's political career before he had the full workings of the Dem's political machine behind him, would it not?

Now I'm not calling Rininger a liberal or anything, but the situation involving her and her office only illustrates that much bigger problem of us dropping our end of the Constitution's deal. Paralleling the need get together and push some results from the Drain Commissioners of Allegan and Ottawa counties, we absolutely have to live out our values with a focus on where we have the most political impression and personal effect on the politics and people around us: at the local level.

Involvement is necessary, the consequence of failing to do so results in more 41st streets ending up under water and ruined...or someone could possibly die the next time a 52nd street collapses.

(Did I get the latter correct? Was it 52nd in Manlius township that was washed out from under those three people in the Jeep last summer?)

The fact that recessions are never created by private action: solely by extra-marketal affairs...namely the actions of Church institutions and the government. I know our paper-thin economics education tells us its the opposite, but think about it: what businessperson...someone who's profession is based on analyzing trends and looking out for themselves....is going to make a decision that will contribute to a downward spiral that would destroy any and all hope of a stable profit margin?

As Americans, we just have to use common sense in looking at the problems that the government is putting in the blender.

Here we go: the following is what I call a comment 'war' from Facebook (I apologize to no end for the lack of...you know...grammatical structure)...

The union UAW is responsible for the large middle class in this Nation. They are not to blame for the big 3 demise. It is our tax structure that puts an excise tax on domestic production, thus the exidos of jobs after free trade policy was put in place. Fair TAx cures all this.

Me:

There is no panacea just like there is no one, singular cause to any economic recession (other than, of course, general ones like 'Democrats'). One can make a defensible case on the UAW not causing the demise of the big 3, but the case I argue is centered upon the seed of chaos (Unionism as we define it today) watered by the radically pro-labor position taken by both the govt of Michigan and the city of Detroit.

With the complexity of the MI tax/regulatory structure (which centers around corporate 'nodes' like the Big 3, Spartan Stores, Meijer, etc.), we saw a few years ago a government trying to sap its entire revenue off of that main node. During the Engler admin, the legislature (under Republicans, of course) moved to dismantle this mindset and restore the freedom of the Big 3 while equalizing and lowering the tax burden on the whole state. Just like a newborn wildebeest, the Big 3 stumbled around in its new freedom and knocked the Michigan Economy on its butt.

Granholm was in at that point...her approach was to, guess what, preserve the lifeblood of the Democratic party in the state (Unions) so she took a(nother) hard approach of propping the stumbling wildebeest up (returning to the pre-Engler modus operandi). By now, the MBT is set up and giving breaks to the Big 3 that imported corporations would die for. Sparing these unionized companies the burden of taxation exploits the tax avenues left behind by the equalization efforts of the legislature under Engler and Sikkema while leaving a gaping hole in the budget.

The Fair Tax is something that is needed, but Former Rep. Fulton Sheen's other proposals (http://tinyurl.com/cmh6kl) take large steps toward meeting what was recommended by the Senate Emergency Fiscal blahblah in '06: radically reforming the way Michigan does government and delivers services. We spend 38% of our budget of expensively decrepit social programs and depend on a tax structure so old it's physically rotting.

Chris what you have described points out very clearly the need for the Michigna Fair Tax plan and the National fair tax plan to get government out of the way of free enterprise.

I would by the way, also propose that it is illegal by a Law, for a union to fraudulantly protect any worker who does not give a fair days wage for a fair days work.

Me:

Libertarians and many conservatives have a kind of confirmation bias...seeing government as a simple network of things but recognize, when asked, that it is not so. Taxation isnt the only, though it is the most apparent, negative effector of free commerce.

We, of course, have a multitude of other negations of business functions descending from the Michigan budgeting process: leaving in a bunch of baggage from many, many years passed. Its just silly and Sheen's second proposal addresses that. In addition to that, the Michigan constitution should be amended to provide for open debate on every single budget item passed each fiscal year.

I do realize this may possibly put geezers' lives at risk from all the all-night debating (we love you, Patty B.) but that if it is what is necessary for good government, then this should be asked of our legislators.

You might be asking yourself: who's to blame for this economic tsunami? It's nobody's fault. I, personally, blame it on the mindset of our lesser forebears and the idea that "we can just put off problems til we're out of office" present from the township to the federal level...exasperated by term limits, of course.

So where do we go? I give props to Sheen's prop.'s while forming our governmental dialouge toward a more just, democratic society. After all, the root of a democracy is the individual...so why do we focus on corporations and unions and all these other manufactured groups?

The Fed chief is going to use 'every tool' to end our economic crisis. What??? I thought Bernanke had been doing that since the beginning! How many more tools can there be? Theyre going to nationalize banks now...this isnt going to solve anything: it just sets up a precedent for socialism.

Seriously, I thought Bush started the unbridling the sickly foal, government, with a hope for it to charge like a stallion out of recession...

So now what? Will we start micromanaging the personal finances of individuals? Will we tell people what they can and cant do in the name of economic recovery? Maybe just the "wealthy."

Why should we fear what happens to those rich snobs? Two reasons: I've never gotten a job from a poor man and they spend more than what we collectively make on legal costs: if they can do it to them, they can and will hold life and death over us...

Those that believe they can control our economy are not only arrogant, theyre just stupid. The economy is made up of people: Amerians make it move. To put the economy in chains and to force it to do governmental bidding, you have to put Americans in chains and use force and coercion as means of accomplishment. Obama, Bernanke, Geithner, Pelosi, Reid, and all the others over there in little D.C. have no clue what to do. This makes them very, very dangerous. I do not like it when anyone in our government says its their job to do anything to help the economy without an electoral verification: too dictatorial for me.

The answer to this problem is the most new and genuine idea on earth: let We the People decide where our economy goes and how we solve our economic woes.

GOP Governors are considering rejecting the stimulus money. YEEEESSSSSSSSS! Hope at last! Have to love this stuff: the conservative leaders of the Republican party have spoken out against taking porkulus dollars. Of course, The Obama's machine preempted this and mandated that legislatures can accept it over governors wishes, but these governors, from what I have seen, have a lot of political ability. This whole situation is just great!

Is it not wonderful to see our ideology in action? Gives me hope for 2010 and 2012: bright, bold colors!

My question: what will The Obama do? If he really believes that this is such a terrible economic situation, I cant wait to see how he reacts. Fig Newton Individualism

I was thinking about what to write today when I opened a recently purchased package of Fig Newtons (ambrosia on a tough day). As you can see in the picture, one of the cookies came packaged 'incorrectly' (or was it correct and the rest flawed?). I figured I'd write a short post on the virtues of maintaining individuality.

"I am a conservative." This, for me, you, and many others, is both a political and personal statement, a mold to conform to. I do this because I just happen to have the cooresponding experiences relating to the streamlined beliefs of the movement. However, while we do conform, we have to maintain our individuality.

Lucky for us, our movement emphasizes the individual and family as the bedrock of a good society. I have a fear that there are those that would wish to change this fundamental fact in the name of regimentation for political accomplishment and expediency.

We need to stay away from that height of collectivism. Earlier this week, I received a failing grade on a 10-page paper merely because of a"bad thesis/argument." What was bad? I directly refuted the professor's talking points and, BAM, was hit with a poor grade.

But life is much, much more than just grades. The grading system itself destroys individuality in a system of mandated conformity through requirements that force all to jump through the same hoops. As I've told all the crazy libs here at the less-than-excellent Grand Valley State: the only thing I've learned at college is to be more conservative...and that is why I, like Mark Twain, have never let teaching get in the way of my education.

It's all part of offering , as Goldwater said, a choice, not an echo. We arent the rigid collectivist/suppressionist party: we're dynamic, individual, and ingenuine. Minimal Expectations: printing money and handing to you.

So the Democrats have begun telling us their porkulus package isn't going to really stimulate the economy...what a surprise. I don't really have any sort of original viewpoint on this, but I would like to comment on three specific points.

1. Public Works:

States normally pick up the bill for road construction, right? It's a responsibility of the state to pave and maintain its own road system...it is also a sphere of power reserved to the states. The federal government has no right to pay for road construction. In the Federalist Papers, the small-but-great James Madison detailed that states, in order to defend their rights, need to 'sound the alarm' on the federal government's encroachments regardless of enticing offers of money, etc.

Yet we see Jenny No-Jobs and other governors BEGGING for the stimulus money...why is this? Centralization...the destruction of federalism through consolidation at the national level...is central (pun intended) to the liberal ideology. It's happening in Europe...city liberals favor European Unionization while the rest of...everyone else favors European fragmentation....

Lovely...I happen to like my state government: I can go down to the office of my state rep and senator and get results. Carl Levin wont do that for anyone who likes the constitution and the freedoms guaranteed to us by the States themselves. Just like Dominoes down from the New Deal Democrats that wanted the states to become 'Departments of Implementation' of the federal government. Conspiracy against the people.

2. Making dependent the poor and downtrodden

The biggest expansion of welfare and 'unemployment' (for those people as unemployed as Nadya Suleman, mother of 14 stimulus packages) since Bush's Medicare Part D! I just think its hilarious...change indeed.

3. Taxes:

Congrats, America, you're getting $13 bucks added to your paycheck...I wonder how much of that will disappear into taxes...here's an idea: they limit executive pay in propped-up companies and historical precedent tells us that this is just another Foot-in-the-Door act that will eventually devolve into a cap on success (Welfare State idea present and enacted in Europe today and during the 30's, 40's, 50's, and 60's in America).

When that happens, a large portion of the 86% of income tax revenues "The Rich" pay will disappear and the drop in revenue will result in the Dems raising taxes on the rest of us. Just like Dominoes.

I was checking up on the local county newspaper, the Allegan News, as I normally do on Thursdays, when I discovered this letter to the editor...

The authors, Tom and Linda Clark, explain how a faith-based charity's setting up of a shelter in downtown Allegan (where they live) will harm Allegan's overall "prosperity." They claim that the idea of having those dirty, "near-homeless" men in a Christian shelter will damage economic transaction on the neighboring streets. ***Unlike with other hyperlinked material, I highly suggest you at least skim the brief note.***

You might be wondering about this Seeds of Grace organization? Well, it was started back in 2006 to specifically serve Allegan County's poor and downtrodden. Their "vision" is: "Food, Shelter and Healthcare for All. Our goal is simple and clear: to provide food, shelter and healthcare for residents of Allegan County who cannot afford these basic needs." The organization is entirely faith-based (501(c)(3)), involves a statement of faith for volunteers, and has a statement from former 88th Rep. Fulton Sheen displayed on the website.

So why would Tom Clark, a professed "Christian," oppose such an organization's work? I don't pretend to understand the way liberal minds work. That's right, he's a rather lib'ral Democrat that, throughout his campaign for state rep last year, spoke many times as to the need of health care insurance in the community.

Wait...I thought the liberals cared about the poor and the downtrodden in society....but having them on their streets? Eating in their diners? Walking on their sidewalks? Oh, that makes their towns "unsafe" for shoppers, of course, and will destroy some notion of "prosperity" for a town that, from what I've seen, is negatively isolated from economic cycles.

This all goes to illustrate an important point the Barry Goldwater made in The Conscience of a Conservative: liberals subordinate a man's entire being to their economic status. It's because these men will be "poor" (meaning that they've just hit a rough patch) that they need to be kept away from the well-off business owners and shoppers who, because they are "rich," are inherently good natured and law abiding. How absurd does that sound? It's bigoted and it's biased. It's hypocritical and just plain sad.

Tom Clark, like the rest of that Party, would use government to order us to carry the water and give it to the thirsty, but he and they never step down off of their own unladen horses to lift a glass and let the weak men drink. Also, Tom Clark, like the rest of that Party, cannot fathom the idea of allowing the weak man to hold the glass himself when his strength has returned; rather, they would install millions of tubes to pump the water into masses lying on their backs...

So what if a few ignorant shoppers (in this case, probably liberal like Mr. Clark) who have a "misunderstanding" about the poor decide to not troll down Locust street because a shelter is doing great things in the name of the Lord there? Goldwater stated that it is the Conservative that understands that men and women have a spiritual, emotional, and psychological side that is not subordinate whatsoever to economic condition and this situation is that principle, illustrated.

I'm not going to forget men and women who could freeze to death in favor of people who have always come and gone from a wonderful warm house, never having to know the winter wastes for what they really are...

Tom and Linda Clark conclude with a threat, "We will not do business with any organization or individual that supports or donates to Seeds of Grace to benefit this project and encourage others to make this same vow." So...have Tom and Linda Clark have now appointed themselves as leaders of an anti-American division of Allegan businessmen and women?

Anyway...I'm going to try to make some time to go down and help Seeds of Grace and I highly suggest you either do the same or make a monetary/material donation.

Like Jihadists, Everything Gets the Gay Community in an Uproar!

I miss the days when homosexuals were quiet, like everyone else, about what they do in the bedroom. This comes to mind because, at the tail-end of 24 this evening, a Fox channel special report preview came on talking about a documentary that details the threat of homosexual activism to religious freedom.

One, presumably lesbian, interviewee said that broadcasts of that kind are "reprehensible." So lets add 'Free Speech' and 'Religious Freedom' to long list of things 'gay leaders' just don't like.... Where's the freedom? I might think that grown men riding too-small bikes with little girls clothing on is "reprehensible," but its not my right, within reason, to stop them, is it?

Now, I do not have a problem any given gay man or lesbian woman that acts like a normal person, but those that want to toss out democracy (i.e. here) have a different message coming. It's not personal, it's politics: the principle to stand by the will of the everyday heroes to see us through to becomes that shining city upon a hill.

Also, I oppose the state granting the privilege of marriage to this group of tutu-donning militants simply because it can sets a VERY high precedent for governmental control. The state, then, claims WAY too much power and it is malicious towards freedom for the rest of us.

Lastly, I realize this is a highly sensitive issue for Christians, but the only advice a mere man can offer is: love the sinner, rebuke the sin. We've been taught to love everyone and the radical groups in SanFran wish to exploit that to further their political and financial causes. Whatever you do, please don't apologize for your conservative insticts! I do realize that I might split with some of you on this issue and that is why I, unlike those on the opposite side, am open to debate in the comments section.

So Obama has finally done it: revealed himself for the Anti-American soothsayer he is. He wrote a newspaper 'op-ed' titled 'The Action America Needs.'

...the NBC article title is... [UPDATE: NBC article at that link has changed! Bias has struck again! Article, from what I can see, is not about Obama's negative tone...it's about his plan...how gimp is that?]

I see that the catchphrase has changed to 'action' now.

Well anyway, in this piece he wrote, "This recession might linger for years. Our economy will lose 5 million more jobs. Unemployment will approach double digits. Our nation will sink deeper into a crisis that, at some point, we may not be able to reverse," adding later, "I reject these theories, and so did the American people when they went to the polls in November and voted resoundingly for change." (Oops, guess the catchphrase is still the same)

"Every month that we do not have an economic recovery package 500 million Americans lose their jobs." -click for video- Strangely, the media hasnt said a thing. Seriously, though, who does that??? We'll soon be asked to do with less: to fill up our tires when gas prices climb up in the summer, to turn our heat down next winter, to accept greater government involvement in the lives of the people, to understand when inflation causes runaway living costs, and myriad other things that you need only use the dark side of your imagination for. This is the result of 'trust me' government and has been since the time of the Puritans. It's high time each of us gets out there and talks to 1 or 2 people about our beliefs and policy options.

Tell them that destitution is not liberty, limitation is not freedom: we do not want government telling people what they can get paid. Tell them that we believe that destitution should not follow unemployment by means of old age, that the government needs to give up its process of deliberate and planned inflation so a dollar will be a dollar's worth and not a handful of change. Get the message out that all freedom is intertwined: that if we give up our so-called 'economic' freedoms for economic security, we will have embarked on a downward course. Tell your friends that Obama's soothsaying and government control sets a precedent for controlling your wages and where you work; after all, he's doing it to corporate executives who spend much more than our incomes on legal defense, what's stopping him from doing it to us? Tell them that we arent too egotistical to consider the mistakes of the past. Get the word out that We the People, we of this breed called Americans, deserve much, much better than the Democratic Party leadership, both in Congress and the White House, who bear the full personal, political, and moral responsibility for this crisis that threatens to shatter the lives of millions of our people. Lastly, tell them that Republicans will be conservative again...

Let us stand united, and in 2010 and 2012, build a house Ronald Reagan would be proud of. From our new castle, let us wake up and show them we are strong.

Mitt Romney said that the 'Heart and soul of the Republican Party belongs in the house that Ronald Reagan built.' A very, very good declaration of sentiments, but might I add a slight suggestion: The heart and soul of the Republican party belongs in the family room of the house that Ronald Reagan built.

Might I ask you a question for thought: what does the house that Ronald Reagan built look like? Is it a house of wings, each unto themselves? Are the three wings supposed to fight and bicker, slamming doors left, right, and center? What about all the heating costs endured by allowing the cold, liberal winds to scour more outer walls? What happens when, like in 2008, these winds turn into a tempest to challenge the fortitude of the walls?

Surely, then, this house divided against itself will not stand. With the current design, a wing will fail and be torn away by gusts in another direction. If that should happen, a gaping hole through which the warmth of love, family, and freedom will be lost.

When we journeyed out to enjoy the freedoms across this blessed land, we forsook our duty and placed the watch over our house in the hands of lesser men. We allowed them to to tear down that stalwart house Ronald Reagan built and erect this fractured house of conservatism. Last year, we returned from our adventures, but it was too late: the final door had been hung and closed to us.

Right now we knock and knock, yet it is time to take a lesson from those brave frontiersmen that built our country: it's time we journey into the wooded grounds of this neo-shack and build a house Ronald Reagan would be proud of.

Let us model it after Monticello, the torn-down and rebuilt manor of Thomas Jefferson, with rooms, offices, and storage facilities all equal as to be focused on the individual. We will construct it of sturdy logs to remember the birthplace our party's first president, unifier of our nation: Abraham Lincoln. We'll line the foyer and main hall with copper busts of all our great Republican presidents from Lincoln and Grant, to TR and Coolidge, to Eisenhower and, resting above all, Reagan. Upon the walls throughout our house, we will carve the names of every American soldier and civilian killed in war. In addition to the traditional, we must add the many modern amenities afforded to us by the innovation of we the people.

We'll install solar panels and windmills made by free, unsubsidized Green Capitalists and hire hardworking and honest youth to care for the grounds and clean the halls with Greenlist chemicals, fertilizers, and sweat off their brows. We'll have no hired security: we will rely on individuals to enter gun safes hidden in the walls and use the contents for protection. If we must have doors, the doors will be open to all with the will and heart to enter.

Above all, this house will be centered around a circular breakfast table. This table will never be, however, a dinner table for we conservatives know that we will always dine basking in the warmth of this, great America's eternal sunrise.

I have faith that this is a house Ronnie would be proud of; for I, being a survivor of his, certainly will be.

CAFETERIA: Liberal lunch ladies dishing out problems for Michigan

We all know about the federal CAFE standards for reduction in auto emissions, right? Well...remember these are federal, so they apply to the whole nation. This makes sense. It's easy to enforce and you the auto makers don't have to develop their own accounting firm to deal with it.

Change is a-comin'!

Obama wants to pass new standards; higher, of course, and that allow states to set their own (tighter) standards (Calipandering - Libs loving that blob of a state on the west coast - California wanted to set higher standards). Fourteen have decided to do so.

Why don't we just send a memo to GM, Ford, Chrysler, Nissan, Mazda, Honda Toyota, and all the rest of the auto industry and tell them we just cannot have them employing millions of our citizens anymore??? This is ridiculous! Every interstate auto manufacturer/supplier is going to have to put together its own accounting firm to deal with this idiot inconsistency - real good for the already hyperinflated overhead costs of the Big 3.

This can be illustrated through another, related problem: Why do gas prices get so high? Same inconsistency. Michigan has different standards than Indiana...so if there is a shortage in Michigan, prices go sky high because you cannot, as common sense would dictate, pump it up from Indiana because of bureaucratic, global-warming-scare regulations...

Perhaps I falsely hope that our legislators will adapt their standards to the Big 3 and Nissan as to make it consistent with those companies' locations outside of Michigan. We can only expect that our governor's intimate knowledge of how things don't work will serve to deny my hopes. Anyway, Dems are just proving, again, that they just fail to understand the role of government in America...

Simply put, it is government's job to create a stable, safe, and clean environment for all to exercise the vast well of opportunity that is our God-given right. Out of these three relative terms, stable is the most important for business, and having 36 states one way then have 14 others that are all radically different in their own individual ways is the antithesis of stable for interstate commerce. For this reason, I'm going to be calling these new standards the CAFETERIA list.

No particular acronym comes to mind, but the domestic auto industry is going to have the chaos of a poorly-designed cafeteria. I expect we'll be talking about this intellectual bankruptcy for a good long time and I'd like a chuckle unto myself when writing about it.

Obama, Kennedy have interesting connection

As has been known for a while, Sen. Edward Kennedy(D-Mass.) is currently suffering of a brain tumor. Before I joke about him, I have to say that our prayers go out to him and the few decent members of his family. Due to this brain tumor, however, the senator from Clan Kennedy is now, quite literally, a mindless party vote.

As is said here, Sen. Kennedy was infested with the new 'cool' aura of D.C. and, as expected, collapsed of a seizure at a luncheon for the newly-coronated President Barack Hussein Obama. Reported by those who have political points to gain, President Obama rushed over to his former Senate colleague, ordered the lights off, and waited for EMS to take the old geezer to the hospital where he now lies recovering.

Now for the real story...

Kennedy, who's brain tumor is merely a way to explain away his idiocy, had too much to drink at the luncheon, duly collapsed and, reportedly, died of unknown causes. President Obama noticed a crowd forming and rushed to it, seeking publicity as always. Happening upon the 76-year-old man lying crumpled in broken heap on the floor, the 47-year-old promptly resurrected him.

Directly following the miracle, EMS arrived and the President ordered all back to the feast. The crowd dispersed and, in order to protect the wall of separation of church and state, Kennedy was sent with the responders so Obama would not be sainted by the Catholic church.

After the luncheon, and for his second herculean accompishment of the day, Obama went dancing.

As we know, the Trail of Tears was when Andrew Jackson, arguably the worst president in our history (coincidentally a Democrat), sent a bunch of Indians to their dooms by a Nazi-style forced march to Oklahoma. Now comes the great wash of tears: the media has been forced to report that the Oblitorator cannot carry all his baggage.

Devaluation of Human Life

Sadly, a baby that had died was thrown out with the trash and debate rages between the parents -who can gain cash from the fiasco- and the hospital as to when he died. In New Jersey, according to the drive-by's, a stillborn isnt considered human. I thought the North Eastern Lib'rals liked standing up for the littlest guys of all...

I post this because of my distant mourning for the child and those like him while I wish to comment on the weight of this court case. The courts decision could set a precedent (the parents claim the baby was alive for 20 minutes) that would either revalue or devalue further the life of babies. Progressive and subsequent court cases in more moderate states, if the decision is to destroy the rights of children more, would move the 'bar' (no pun intended) up in age destroying the rights of kids living for 30 minutes, an hour, two hours, a day, a week, a month, 9 months, a year, 5 years, perhaps anything under 18! It's crazy, but the prophetic lyrics of the song "Anything Goes" tell it how it is.

For instance, you can drop your kid off in Nebraska and leave and the state will take care of them...just the beginning.

In discussing politics with uneducated students at GVSU and elsewhere, I often speak from the perspective of base problems; it allows me to tackle very complex questions in a manageable and efficient way. For our nation, though, these problems are two basic things: bad parenting and national debt.

I will write and you may read more about the previous on this blog, but the latter is something discussed in the above articles. I, like many conservatives, watch the dialogue around government spending with horror as it move to what government can and will do to save us for us. From the economy to hurt feelings, the media and its mindless zombivoters believe that government is the solution and, subsequently, those that wield it are the equivalent of Jesus himself.

As you know, whenever government does anything (big, small, broad, narrow) it is 'oppressive' solely because government has no original resources. For example, when government spends a dollar, it must steal that dollar from the private sector: you and me. When it spends $1trillion on a bailout that doesn't work, it steals that money from you and me and redistributes our wealth to its 6-digit, Wall Street buddies who, coincidentally, had donated to political campaigns (overwhelmingly to the Dems) over expensive drinks in New York penthouses. But I digress...

It is because of the oppressive tendencies of the New-Deal/Nazi-Germany/Fascist-Italy dialogue of governmental action that I legitimately fear national bankruptcy. Why? Because zombiDems will faithfully follow Obama off the deep end. This massive new spending package will give nothing back to those it will take from. The doomsday media articles, like those above, give public justification for a go-for-broke, across the board tax increase that will put businesses under, cut jobs, force individuals to go bankrupt, repopulate government housing to Granholm-like levels, increase crime, and do an innumerable amount of other negative things that you can list just by using your imagination.

So what then? History proves that oppressive taxes cannot sate the irascible appetite of government. The American people will lose hope, our economy wilt, and all that is green and good in the world will be lost as forests fall for cash and fields go uncultivated. But even then...the more the plans fail the more the planners will plan. My fellow conservatives, just keep the faith: nothing that will happen in the next four years will prove us wrong, everything that will happen in the next four years will prove us right, Right and good for America.

Something a bit more personal

Let's face it: our state is dead. Economically destroyed through policies of a corrupt and rotting power structure. This aside, Michigan remains the most beautiful place I've ever seen on this earth.

Walking through campus or trekking back home, I look around me and I see a winter wonderland. This place is a wonderful place.... I can see myself getting a bit older, finding a decent paying position, and building a small house to start a family in. It's just too bad that so many children whose parents have moved south will never be able to experience this hope, this dream.

I, personally, am partially ashamed and partially angry that our government has so subsidized our people and businesses that Michigan's greatest corporations have to go begging to the circus ring we call Congress....

I love this land...it's the best little patch in the whole world...but I'm afraid that the next four years will spell the end of Michigan. The glaciers that carved our wondrous Great Lakes may as well move back in: there will be so many homes for sale that even big, inanimate blocks of ice will be able to afford chunks of real estate.

I've been perusing the news headlines as I normally do and there seems to be this odd focus on the economy. Curious, isn't it? Most of the headlines have to do with telling Congress to intervene and 'save us...for us.' It's frustrating -and hilarious to a point- to watch the esteemed United States Federal Government flop around like a blind fish out of water in its attempts to 'fix' the economy. Seriously, look at the numbers:

-Economic Stimulus Package, $152billion - FLOP
-Bailout Package, $700billion and $100billion and $200+billion - FLAIL
-Antiquated Detroit Car Manufacturers Life Support Package, $25billion now, more in the future -will FLOP
-Bearing witness to an inept Congress, priceless.

Here are the numbers: Congress wants to give $25,000,000,000.00 to GM, Ford, and Chrysler. If we take into account that kind of money, in light of the total American employment of the 'U.S. automakers,' just how little business sense do we have?

According to this article, the total number employed by the 'Big 3' is 255,109 domestically. In light of this number, we could give $97,997.33 to each and every employee of these companies that will squander the same money on the wasteful corporate practices that have put them in this position in the first place!

The Democratic Party is the party of corporate-union welfare. Bottom line. Why? You have to have unions (especially the MiUAW) to keep the Democratic party funded, to have unions you have to have unionized corporations, and to have unionized corporations the majority party has to have its head where the sun doesn't shine or wedged in some bong in a back alley of D.C.

It's not up to anyone in particular to 'solve' this. It's up to the factory worker, the churchgoer, your waitress, me, and you to 'fix' this. It is absolutely necessary for We the People to win in 2010 and 2012: We must start addressing our problems through the lens of liberty and not totalitarian control. For now, however, it's time to end the Long Goodbye and pull the plug on the long-dead Big 3.

For a Depression to last so long, unlike the unknown Panic of 1819 or sharp recession of 1920-21, should be a signal that perhaps FDR’s programs were not all that successful.
Franklin Roosevelt biographer Conrad Black has a new article championing the 32nd president, and defending the man’s legacy against a number of critiques that have emerged since his time in office. This article comes at a time when many are demanding “another New Deal” and a resurgence in Rooseveltian governance in general.

An interesting facet here is that while most of these paeans to FDR have come from the progressive and center-left, a few years back, it was the right calling for the current president to be more FDR-like, in matters of war in particular. Conservative talk show hosts could be heard nostalgically celebrating the U.S. strategic bombings of World War II, complaining that President Bush was unwilling to drop even more explosives upon the Iraqi people. It was also a conservative who penned a book defending one of FDR’s most conspicuous programs, one not revered so much on the Left these days, Japanese Internment.

But now the myth is that the conservatives and Republicans in this country have cast away the New Deal government created by Roosevelt, and cashed it in for “laissez-faire.” The federal government in America is huge, the largest in absolute terms in world history, probably, especially given its reach over the world and wealth consumed at home. Yet Bush’s $3 trillion state is allegedly a mark of “anti-government bias” on the Right.

Almost all the prominent and powerful Republicans have been New Dealers. Ronald Reagan, the supposed paragon of modern conservatism, was a New Dealer and never did anything to undo FDR’s legacy. Newt Gingrich and Bob Dole both paid tribute to this great leader, who, as the story goes, did so much to pull Americans out of the Great Depression.

That the Depression, in terms of lowered standards of living, poor quality and availability of consumer goods for the masses, did not truly end until after FDR died never seems to complicate the standard narrative. For a Depression to last so long, unlike the unknown Panic of 1819 or sharp recession of 1920-21, should be a signal that perhaps FDR’s programs were not all that successful. Every other American recession was a flash in the pan by comparison.
Interestingly, Black blames Herbert Hoover for his “higher taxes and tariffs,” thus rejecting the common myth that Hoover was a laissez-faire president who did nothing in response to the Depression. But he credits FDR’s many policies for bringing about recovery. One thing that seems to have made Black believe FDR needs defending: “It has been alleged by some supply-side economic purists that he actually prolonged the Depression in the United States.” Perhaps he is referring to the UCLA economists who have recently concluded that FDR’s policies “prolonged the Depression by seven years”:
After scrutinizing Roosevelt’s record for four years, Harold L. Cole and Lee E. Ohanian conclude in a new study that New Deal policies signed into law 71 years ago thwarted economic recovery for seven long years.

"Why the Great Depression lasted so long has always been a great mystery, and because we never really knew the reason, we have always worried whether we would have another 10- to 15-year economic slump," said Ohanian, vice chair of UCLA’s Department of Economics. "We found that a relapse isn’t likely unless lawmakers gum up a recovery with ill-conceived stimulus policies."

The economists conclude that recovery would have come sooner, if not for the New Deal, particularly the National Recovery Administration, which forced businesses to cartelize, and pro-labor legislation. Yet this basic theory is not entirely new, nor one adopted merely by “supply-side purists.”

More than sixty years ago, progressive liberal muckraker John Flynn took FDR to task in his journalistic treatment The Roosevelt Myth. This included a wonderful attack on the clumsy and counterproductive National Recovery Administration, modeled largely after Mussolini’s policies in Italy:

[Mussolini] organized each trade or industrial group or professional group into a state-supervised trade association. He called it a corporative. These corporatives operated under state supervision and could plan production, quality, prices, distribution, labor standards, etc. The NRA provided that in America each industry should be organized into a federally supervised trade association. It was not called a corporative. It was called a Code Authority. But it was essentially the same thing. These code authorities could regulate production, quantities, qualities, prices, distribution methods, etc., under the supervision of the NRA. This was fascism. The anti-trust laws forbade such organizations. Roosevelt had denounced Hoover for not enforcing these laws sufficiently. Now he suspended them and compelled men to combine.
Before this monstrosity was finally ruled unconstitutional in Schechter v. U.S., it was a plague of corporatism that imprisoned people for charging too little (landing tailors in jail for pressing pants too cheaply) and smashed economic liberty in a hundred other ways. Clarence Darrow was called upon to investigate the program in an independent commission and called it “harmful, monopolistic, oppressive, grotesque, invasive, fictitious, ghastly, anomalous, preposterous, irresponsible, savage, wolfish.”

Another major feature of FDR’s New Deal was the Agricultural Adjustment Act, which sought to keep agricultural prices up through the mass destruction of crops and livestock. It worked in keeping prices up, but at a time when Americans were starving, this was perhaps not the most sensible or humane approach. Thankfully, it too was ruled unconstitutional. After that FDR responded with his infamous “Court-packing scheme” and the Supremes became obedient.
Robert Higgs, also not a supply-sider so far as I know, has demonstrated other ways, in much greater detail, that FDR in fact prolonged the Depression. First, it bears mentioning that Higgs pointed out years ago that FDR’s ideas were not even that original, but were largely reincarnations of Woodrow Wilson’s wartime economic policies, except at peace. But where FDR lacked in originality, he compensated for in destructiveness. For one thing, Roosevelt’s constant assaults on the free market, without any sort of consistency or predictability about them, led to what Higgs calls “regime uncertainty,” a situation in which investors felt very uneasy about investing in projects, making recovery that much slower.

Ultimately, FDR’s defenders rely on two statistics more than any other argument, and Black is no exception: “Unemployment declined from about 33 percent when Roosevelt entered office to half of 1 percent when he died in office 12 years later (and had been at that point for 4 1/2 years, since several months before Pearl Harbor). The average per capita income doubled under Roosevelt . . ..”

As for unemployment, if the decline began before the war, it might have something to do with “the first peacetime draft in the midst of the 1940 election campaign” that Black proudly lumps together with FDR’s “Fourth New Deal.” Higgs has shown how important conscription was to the reduction in unemployment. Being killed in the trenches is not actually good for the soldier’s economy, as I once heard someone remark.

As for per capita income, or national income for that matter, this is also quite deceptive. I have heard many scholars concede the New Deal did not bring America out of the Depression; World War II did. But again, as Higgs has argued persuasively, the rise in national income in nominal dollars did not correspond to better economic conditions for the average American. With the government spending so much – about 40% of the economy — on the war effort, a staggering amount of American labor and production was being devoted to destruction — bombs, bullets, uniforms, warplanes, the Manhattan Project, and the like. Meanwhile, during the war, new automobiles and appliances were not available; sugar and butter were rationed and scarce; good clothing was hard to obtain. People worked harder for less. And if GDP really told the whole picture, then how to account for the fact that 1946 saw “the largest single-year drop of income in American history”? No one talks about the Depression or crash of 1946. Americans became more prosperous that year: The USA had less money in nominal dollars, but it diverted much less wealth to unproductive uses.

Two more quibbles about the Black article: First, yes, some might exaggerate the extent to which “Roosevelt had been swindled by Stalin at Yalta into handing over Eastern Europe to the USSR.” Given the way things were going, much of that would have happened anyway. But FDR does indeed come off as naive about Stalin in many conventional accounts. He should have been familiar with Stalin’s ruthlessness throughout the 1930s, when he murdered millions, as well as in the war (the USSR aggression against Poland was no more excusable than Hitler’s). Yet he believed that Stalin didn’t “want anything but security for his country.” Roosevelt thought if he gave “him everything I possibly can and ask for nothing in return, noblesse oblige, he won’t try to annex anything and will work with me for a world of democracy and peace.” His adoration of “Uncle Joe,” as he called the Soviet dictator, did not subside even as Stalin annexed, along with half of Poland, Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia. And although Yalta was far from the only factor in Stalin’s conquest of Eastern Europe, it was there that FDR secretly agreed to Operation Keelhaul, an unspeakably murderous repatriation program whereby hundreds of thousands, perhaps millions of refugees from the USSR were rounded up, forced back to Stalin, and enslaved and killed.

My second quibble: It is true that FDR, unlike the Republicans before him, was anti-prohibition. Indeed, he was nearly a libertarian compared to Hoover across the board. (In 1932, he championed lower taxes, lower spending, liquidation, sound money, lower tariffs, a smaller bureaucracy, less war and freer markets. The Democratic platform of that year was also much more laissez-faire than that of the GOP, blasting the latter for its big-government policies. Ayn Rand and other small-government advocates voted for FDR for that reason.)
But it is perhaps an exaggeration to say that FDR “repealed Prohibition of alcoholic beverages (wrenching one of America’s largest industries out of the hands of the underworld).” He did modify the Volstead Act, allowing beer with 3.2% alcohol. But federal prohibition didn’t really end until the 21st Amendment was passed by the state legislatures, the culmination of years of activism. It would have likely happened without him. And, for what it’s worth to the civil libertarians on the Left, four years later he signed into law the effective federal prohibition of marijuana, ushering in the federal drug war.

It is funny that FDR is so universally beloved on Left and Right. He imposed counterproductive economic fascism, destroyed food while people starved, imposed gun control and drug control at the federal level, created Fannie Mae (which has continued to cause economic troubles), had plans to round up rightwing and leftwing activists without due process, drafted (enslaved) ten million Americans into the military, waged total war on civilians, brought nuclear weaponry into the world, stuck tens of thousands of U.S. citizens into concentration camps, set up a censorship office, palled around with Stalin, turned away exiled Jews back to the Nazis, was deceitful in foreign affairs, and did not actually bring America out of the Depression, in terms of economic well-being for the American people. We don’t need another one of him. His despotic spirit is seen plenty enough in the leaders of both political parties now.

Hello blogging world,

I am also extremely busy because of college & work, but wanted to share something that I found posted (on Facebook...ha) about everyone's favorite Democrat... (I didn't write it, so don't give me the credit)

More food for thought. (or Mud slinging to those of you who might stand a little to the left) If you don't think about some of these things, how can you come to an independent decision. You can't believe all the good or the bad things, but certainly have to weigh them in the mix.

Here is "the math" on Senator Obama:

2 = Number of terms he served in the Illinois State Senate

1/3 term = portion of term spent in the U.S. SenateHe is now a Junior U.S. Senator from Illinois, and only that for 18 months of his first term.

Counting all the recesses, four day weekends, more than a year spent campaigning, and his absences, Obama has only spent about 6 weeks of workdays on the Senate floor as one of the most junior members of the U.S. Senate.

80% = percentage of votes he cast as "Present " or "Abstain" (he did not want any record on his voting history to tarnish his legitimacy to the Presidency)
14 = Number of cases he tried as a trial lawyer (Google the outcomes. There were no tremendous judgements in favor of his clients)

1 = Other jobs he's held.

He was a "community organizer". Is that a PTA president? Is that a Homeowners Association President? No, it's not even an elected position.What is a community organizer anyhow? It's a self-appointed position for someone who's trying to get things done to improve a community. It's a resume stuffer.

Zero = Accomplishments in his job.

As a community organizer, his major cause was getting the asbestos out of a housing project. Obama failed at that. After two years of
trying, the asbestos was still there when he left and is still there even now that he is a U.S. Senator and presumably has some pull to get things done.

That's it!!!

Barack Obama's entire real world work resume includes:

6 = Six weeks work in the U.S. Senate with nothing to show for it.
2 = Two years as a lawyer and only 14 minor trials.
2 = Two years as a "community organizer" with nothing accomplished.
He's never balanced a budget.
He's never served in any executive position.
He's never run any business or organization.
He's never held a major position while in office.
He has no credentials to examine to see what he has accomplished.

Answer: Of course not, yet he's running for the highest position possible in this country, the Presidency of the United State, and the leadership of the free world.

As many of you know I have just begun college and, with all the projects added to a quite light school load, have little time for blogging.

One project I have taken on is, basically,researching President Reagan. Everything is currently in progress but, as my Political Thought professor has told me, Reagan was much, much more complex than we give him or that he even gave himself.

The Vatican's second-highest ranking doctrinal official on Monday forcefully branded homosexual marriage an evil and denounced abortion and euthanasia as forms of "terrorism with a human face."
The attack by Archbishop Angelo Amato, secretary of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, was the latest in a string of speeches made by eitherPope Benedict or otherVatican officials as Italy considers giving more rights to gays.
In an address to chaplains, Amato said newspapers and television bulletins often seemed like "a perverse film about evil." He denounced "evils that remain almost invisible" because the media presented them as "expression of human progress."
He listed these as abortion clinics, which he called "slaughterhouses of human beings," euthanasia, and "parliaments of so-called civilized nations where laws contrary to the nature of the human being are being promulgated, such as the approval of marriage between people of the same sex ..."
Amato spoke at a time when the Vatican and Italy's powerful Roman Catholic Church are at loggerheads over plans for a highly controversial law that would give unmarried heterosexual and homosexual couples some form of legal recognition.
The Church and Catholic politicians, even some in Prime Minister Romano Prodi's centre-left coalition, see the proposed law as a Trojan Horse and say it could lead to gay marriages.
Amato, who is said to be very close to Pope Benedict, criticized the media's coverage of ethical issues.
After denouncing "abominable terrorism" such as that carried out by suicide bombers, he condemned what he called "terrorism with a human face," and accused the media of manipulating language "to hide the tragic reality of the facts."
"For example, abortion is called 'voluntary interruption of pregnancy' and not the killing of a defenseless human being, an abortion clinic is given a harmless, even attractive, name: 'centre for reproductive health' and euthanasia is blandly called 'death with dignity'," he said in his address.
Gay rights group have criticized the Pope and Catholic Church officials in the past over such comments, accusing them of interfering in Italy's domestic affairs.
Groups opposed to gay marriage and recognition of unmarried couples are planning a national rally in Rome next month.
Italy's Roman Catholic Church, set up on diocesan and parish levels, has the organizational machinery to mobilize hundreds of thousands of people. A huge turnout, which is expected, could be a major embarrassment for Prodi's government.

I'm no expert, but Herbert Hoover said in 1928 that:

The liberal press, naturally, is going to carry this as a new age in the Health-nazi control and, due to both of these, we are assured that the government-media complex is 2 minutes from complete.

I'm going to talk to the Vaccine Freedom people and check if they have anyone who will put money behind a lawsuit forcing the bureaucrats to place stickers on irradiated vegetables so we conservatives wont die and all the libbies will! Anyway, if people are told of it, i.e. there are stickers, it will probably be unfeasible to produce irradiated vegetables.

YOU KNOW WHAT? This is just a plan to get more people sick and emburden the current system to libbies will get their CommieCare!

Diversity and Multiculturalism

Grand valley State University is the self-declared center of Michigan's multiculturalism. They spend millions of our dollars to convince us that acceptance, indifference, and tolerance are the right things to live by. I'm here to say that is not the way to go...

There is a common misconception that government can legislate away differences by forcing us to 'accept' others. This was the idea in the 'New South' during Reconstruction (a period of programs directly following the Civil War): that former slaves were not slaves and everything was great. That, naturally, didn't happen.

With the failure of that period of Reconstruction, the Freedmen's Bureau was created to establish and promote equality and a form of 'diversity' in society in the South. Again, that didn't happen.

When government gets involved and 'forces' what could and would happen naturally, we see a certain backlash. The backlash comes in forms of militancy (the Democrat's militant arm in the south: the KKK), rioting, and Affirmative Action Bake Sales.

The two wisest promoters of civil rights, Booker T. Washington and Martin Luther King, Jr., both believed that it was and is not government's responsibility to teach people how to be accepting. They both concurred that what they called the 'black culture' must change to be more like mainstream American culture (and by that I don't mean 'more like whites').

They thought that education, hard work, and sacrifice would lead the way acceptance of 'black culture.' This has not happened. Dr. King told us not to give 'the Negro' what we feel is 'his due' but to allow him to advance himself in his own right....not give him the means to advance without merit.

1. Consider this situation: 100 people have cell phones and are asked to make them ring as loud as possible. Each ring is different, naturally. Insert 25 more people with different rings: does it really make a difference? No. Diversity is a pointless waste of time and money.

2. The European Union has banned genetically modified crops stating that the majority of growth-enhancing genetic modifications retards the crop's natural growth and will do harm to the greater population. Unnaturally forcing diversity's growth does the same to the result: retards it. It does to harm to the greater population in the form of cost, time, brain-washed thinking, and idiots in Congress.

Environmentalists Screwing Americans...Again

We've all heard about the flooding in the Grand Canyon area, right? All about the hundreds evacuated, bridges washed out, dams broken, etc. The liberal news and, surprisingly, the conservative talk show radios hosts have failed to mention a taxpayer-funded, environmentalist program initiated in March of this year that didn't foresee heavy rains and has, subsequently, caused the flooding.

Oh yes, the whole of the Democrat Party had once again taken their hallucinogen and seen Captain Planet sending them on a mission to save the environment...one chub at a time. It was March of this year and they figured they'd run out of their hooka bars and crack houses to open up a dam in the Grand Canyon.

So the dam was opened so the 'humpback chub' population could be saved.... (an article can be found here.) So along comes...God...and it rains a little too much for the clouded minds and floods out an Indian reservation, a camp ground, and has sent several other institutions evacuating a continually increasing number of Americans (and probably the libbies' illegals too...oh no!) and causing an incalculable amount of damage to the environment the libbies wanted to save.

Now FEMA has to get involved, increasing the cost on the taxpayer as well as growing the size of government. In retrospect, the project just messed up the natural process of things and, perhaps, incurred the wrath of you-know-who by messing with His Earth.

You see, EnviroMarxism was breached in Genesis: 'ye shall be as gods.'

I'm currently dealing with Grand Valley State in its registration process and having...trouble. In other words one may say that I'm dealing with the whole of Hell itself.

There is a void in organization and a void in any fundamental leadership. It's sad, really. I expected more out of the system that saps far too much $$ out of the public vaults and out of families' pockets.

For example, a solid, concrete number for the official cost (i.e. that which they can forsee...not estimated b.s.) hasn't been made availiable to me. My only way of accessing information is through an utterly obscure website and dealing with way too many people.

I'm seriously considering attending a private university next year...Hillsdale or Hope...solely because it is just so, for lack of a better word, retarded.

Oh...and affirmative action was made illegal BY THE PEOPLE, right?

My Narrative on the Right to Life

As we all know, I am pro-life and whole life. From conception to a death surrounded by family, we ought to be left to live our lives. What many do not know is that I am different than most of this position. In this post I hope to share with you my unorthodox view of morality, science, progress, and the Right to Life. I feel that, when it comes to the idea of morality, I think many conservatives are wrong. Their intentions, means, foreseen result, and outlook are correct but not their modus operandi when it comes to thought.

I'm not ripping on my fellow members of the Conservative movement, I just would like to express an opposing method of reaching the same result. I think that traditional Christian Conservatism is wholly right, but that the yearning for values that have existed 'before' is wrong. We needn't look to the past to see what to work for; instead, look to faith.

Our faith tells us that He will protect us. God has blessed this country: I think we can all agree upon that. As we progress into the future, does our faith not tell us that 'moralism' will be the end result of all progress? I believe it does.

When you think of "progress," liberals and their religion, Liberalism, probably come to mind. They think that Progressivism (the embracing of their idea of progess) is the 'ditching' of all traditional morality: that this view of morality is parochial and dead and that 'new' moral relativism will come forth. They are dead wrong.

Liberals depend on "educated" scientists to prove their amoralistic points; this isn't happening anymore. RAW SCIENTIFIC FACT proves our case. I'm not talking about the modified, 'global warming' science they adhere to. I'm talking about the facts:

I'll try to keep my responses short...

Homeostasis: An endangered lizard in South America dips its tail into water to cool itself off...the unborn relies on his or her mother for warm...kangaroos do also...out of the womb...it's illegal to kill both animals...but not an unborn baby.
Organization: Well that's quite obvious...
Metabolism: The placenta feeds the baby just like we rely on plants and animals while we're walking and talking.
Growth: The 'Stages of Growth' imply that this exists.
Adaptation: Stuff that's internalized...like alchohal or tobacco smoke...effect the way the baby grows. Brain probelms and likely alcohalism result from the mother's alcohal comsumption while athsema or cystic fibrosis result from tobacco comsumption.
Response to Stimuli: A baby in the zygote state will find the best spot to position itself on the womb's wall, in the embryo state he or she tries to stay 'upright', and a fetus will protect his or her face from a twin's kicks using their hands and forearms.
Reproduction: An unborn child may not fulfill the basic requirements of making a new organism, but reproducing cells is basic to the growth: this cannot be denied.

The anti-life people believe in the scientific method and they openly admit it...shouldnt they really get their facts, values, and principles correct before they go pandering to the promiscuous vote...

It just all upholds the position that Liberals and Dems have absolutly no core principles...bright bold colors....our colors are...ummm...red, white, and blue while their's are faded, soggy, and sickly shades of green and pinko-red....

Bob Genetski won the 88th's state rep primary! Congrats to him and I hope he can resist becoming just another one of those politicians in Lansing...I'll be watching.

Well I'm thoroughly glad that he did win and Todd Boorsma will not fade back into the crowd as an unemployed welfare slug. Shouldn't have tanked your company, Mr. Boorsma.

From here its onto uniting the Anti- and Pro-Casino groups and bringing that to Lansing.

I wish Bob the best of luck and the warning that I'll be behind him when he's right and against him when he's wrong...as I hope all of you will be.

On a side note, I apologize for the lack of substantive posts in the last 9 days. It was either campaigning, eating, sleeping, or spending time with Katelyn so I didnt get too many opportunities to provide what little insight I may give on this, for lack of a better word, retarded political sceme.

Barack Hussein Obama is a Racist

On his website, there is a section where Hussein Obama's handlers respond to "Smears" with "Truths." What they dont really understand is that the truths are just as bad as the smears.

Martin Robison Delany, the first advocate of a "black nation." Malcolm X, 'black supremist' and founder of the 'Black Muslims'. W.E.B. DuBois, the self-described 'black socialist;' he advocated that the 'blacks' ought to overthrow the 'whites' by force. Nelson Mandela, respected by myself and the world for acting against apartheid in South Africa...though his actions were of terrorism and against the 'white ruling class;' (I'm actually quite sad that 'black separatist' Barack Obama is attempting to put himself on the same par as Mandela). It's all actually quite sad.

While McCain and the 'evil right-wing bloggers and pundits' hold men like George Washington, TJeff, Ben Franklin, Abraham Lincoln, Booker T. Washington, Martin Luther King Jr., and Ronald Reagan in high esteem; Hussein Obama holds these crazis, advocates of racial war, black supremacists, SOCIALISTS, Black Muslims, and Anti-American revolutionaries as his role models.

If you read my commentary on race, you'll find that Barack Hussein Obama's positions and causes are inherently racist and violently so when one considers that he disregards Martin Luther King Jr. and Booker T. Washington in his list of 'black heroes.'

I mourn the day the politically uneducated and misled masses elect this openly prejudiced, Anti-American hypocrite to the office fit for a bigger man.

The Affirmative Action Bake Sale

Earlier I googled "Grand Valley State Republicans" and found a news article dated April 21, 2005 and detailing the exploits of one Kyle Rausch, organizer of the GVSU GOP. The event, titled the "Affirmative Action Bake Sale," got coverage from the Grand Rapids press (granted it was coverage of the negative aspects, buuutttt.....) and is, in my opinion, a shining example of what GOP groups and prominent individuals ought to be doing.

The genius behind it is the visibility of the bake sale. Affirmative Action is a very abstract term and its discrimination isn't referenced when they give breaks to fill their quotas. Now, 'official' Affirmative Action was ended with the last ballot initiative (way to go!) but it, naturally, remains.

Do you think democracy is going to rule when we retain the same liberal supporters of the program? They enforced it with a passion and actually believed in its absent benefits:do you think their elitist mindset will care what We the People have determined to be illegal? The answer is a dead no.

The new challenge before us is one of dual subordinating clauses. The primary is to bring awareness to the lingering Affirmative Action supporters in government and in university administration while using this awareness to educate the misled populace so we can finally oust [Carl Levin] these people. Rousch's program did its part for the fight in '05, our fight is in '08 is to simplify the battleground.

Bob Genetski's idea on reorganizing our system of regents will help with this. If we cut the number of people we have to identify and combat, it'll become easier to get rid of those that cling to the old, racist ways.

Oboorsma

"Todd Boorsma is the Barack Obama of the Republican Party."

The above was stated by Matt Howell, the man who has written two letters to the voters of the 88th attacking Todd Boorsma over the collapse of Millbrook Tack and Trailer. I agree entirely.

The man sells himself well, like Obama. He hides his immense flaws with a salesman's smile and a Dutch last name, the previous like Obama. His website lies when it says that Oboorsma has "managed several companies" bringing them from the "bottom 10% to the top 10%." He hasn't done either...

In his last two jobs he's either crashed the entire company by increasing debt from $4 to 8million (Millbrook, bought inventory disregarding the economy) or gotten fired for, presumably, not performing adequately (Chrysler...it could be something worse...like racism or sexual harassment...I don't know). Oboorsma has based his entire campaign on his business credentials but these aren't worth anything when considering his recent past.

It makes you wonder about the candidate...I've always thought he was going to be a pawn but it sounds like he'll pander to whoever will keep him from further dismissal and disgrace (i.e. special interests for campaign $ in 2010). But this is all just speculation...

Solely due to his attempted tactics of intimidation towards me today, TODD BOORSMA SHOULD DROP OUT OF THIS RACE...NOW. His continuation is a disgrace to the GOP and its home here in Allegan County.

Katelyn ended with a letter to Oboorsma, so shall I:

Dear Mr. Boorsma,

Do you "TP" the houses of those that disagree with you? I wouldn't doubt that you do from the low value of personal maturity that we witnessed tonight...or perhaps you get your mommy to do it for you...just as you got her to embarrass herself tonight. So, Mr. Boorsma, if you have any honor left, prove it by committing political seppuku and dropping out of this race.

If you do not choose to take my advice and continue to attempt to intimidate me into silence, my rhetoric will only get more vociferous. I will not fade away back into the crowd, Mr. Boorsma: you will.

I've been hearing a lot about the race for the 88th House District Seat, but it was interesting to finally see these nine candidates in person and in action as I sat in on the League of Women Voters' forum at Fennville High School.

Now, I'll admit that I'm no guru when it comes to politics; I still have much to learn. But something that always intrigues me when it comes to politicians is one's personality and attitude towards others. I haven't studied psychology enough to really read into what such things might mean, but I can make some guesses and, anyway, it's interesting.

More importantly, I feel the need to express my disgust at the behavior of one candidate in particular. I was absolutely appalled at Mr. Boorsma's behavior following the forum. Chris approached Mr. Boorsma to speak to him, and Chris hadn't even said two sentences before Mr. Boorsma and 3 of his family members swooped in, surrounding Chris in a half-circle (standing not more than 2 or 3 feet away), and began hurling accusations at him. They were upset about Chris's and Mr. Boorsma's previous meeting at the Dorr Business Association's forum at Open Dorr Reformed Church, and didn't even want to hear what Chris had to say about a different issue & his reason for approaching Mr. Boorsma in the first place (see the post above). The Boorsma camp rattled off statistics, accusations, and angry questions at "debate speed," and not in a terribly polite manner. To refer again to the body language, they all leaned in towards Chris, eyes wide and brows furrowed as they spoke in angry tones. Mr. Boorsma's attitude was furiously indignant, not to mention extremely defensive. Even as we walked out the door, they continued to shout after us.

Now, it's true that there was a decent amount of noise in the small area that everyone was hanging around in, and some of the Boorsmas' loud tones can be justified by the need to overcome said noise level. But, as I observed this confrontation from the edge of the half circle, I was shocked. Here was a man that was supposed to be a politician - a man that would be (and has been) dealing with all sorts of people, including ones that don't agree with him; a man that goes door-to-door, speaking to the people that would be responsible for securing his seat in the House; a man that, not half an hour before this confrontation, had declared his Christian values and insisted that we must love our neighbors as ourselves, no matter what - and he was speaking aggressively right in the face of what would be one of his constituents, not to mention he was in the presence of the rest of us and, more importantly, the presence of God! Does this sound like a show of a Christian attitude? Is this how he would treat someone if he was going door-to-door and a resident said they disagreed with him or wouldn't support him?

Let's say Chris had approached him in a similarly aggressive fashion - that he had hurled false accusations or crude insults at Mr. Boorsma in an impolite tone. (Of course, he didn't - he had hardly said anything at all.) Even if this had been the case, if Mr. Boorsma was to "practice what he preaches" or, religion/morality aside, to act like a mature professional - he would have listened to what Chris had to say and then refute the argument in a composed, courteous manner. He should have conducted himself in a respectful manner - to treat others the way he would like to be treated.

Mr. Boorsma, I know this post won't make you very happy, and I know that I'm not terribly important to you. But, politics and all else aside, I hope to God that the behavior I witnessed from you today is not the way you treat all that disagree with you. If you hope to have a future in politics; if you hope to continue to work with people on any level, be it business or political or otherwise; if, most importantly, you hope to carry out God's will and share true Christian values with others - then, Mr. Boorsma, I ask that you please start treating others with the respect, integrity, and love that you spoke of at tonight's forum. Because it's a sad thing to see someone profess their faith in Christ, only to turn around and revile a voter with considerable and unnecessary aggression.

After tonight's appalling display of behavior, Mr. Boorsma has proven himself to be a hypocrite and a downright mean person, and I wonder if his supporters would have such confidence in their candidate & his morals if they'd seen what I saw today.

'Live By The Sword'

A couple nights ago, a male friend and I were watching "Last Samurai" (starring Tom Cruise) randomly blurting out when thoughts came to us. Being that the last time I had seen it was way back when I was an immature and wee lad (well...more of one than I am currently). My brain, then, focused on the historical depiction of post-civil war weaponry and tactics while picking apart the fallacies of the director's depiction of both hosts hostile interaction. I love Japanese history, early politics, the endless possible analysis of Japanese isolation, and the Samurai but I do think, as I mentioned to my friend, that the warrior-culture of Japan made and possibly makes it wise to limit their military and act as their defense forces.

"They really do have a warrior culture, don't they" I remarked across the room; his reply was "Doesn't America also?" The comment sparked a couple seconds of thought where I came to the conclusion that yes, America does have a warrior culture.

Unlike the Japanese and the European Imperial powers that instructed its early leaders, America's war culture is based upon the principle of the Militia. Japan's Samurai were once granted, by the emperor, the right to be the only armed force in Japan. Parallel to this 'right', we, as Americans, are guaranteed a "well-regulated militia" to defend us. There's naturally some fudging to be done when referencing the two as one; but while the samurai could execute civilians for disrespect, the militia were/are civilians. This difference has caused us to understand the cost of war.

I think it was Reagan (it's too late to find the correct quote) that said something to the effect of: "Wars happen when governments underestimate the cost of conflict." This is and will remain forever true. America's militia culture had put us, until the end of the Cold War, on the defensive. We never really followed the Churchillian doctrine of "Free people help others become free." Perhaps our warrior-militia culture told us others had to get their own freedom.

I don't want you to think I'm railing against the Bush administration. Bush's "nation building" initiative was followed by 90% or so of Congress 'way back a few years ago' because this country has lost the principles that are the answer. It is the prevailing political wind in Washington to extend our wealth and resources against the wishes of George Washington's ghost.

It happened to the Brits: they figured that God had blessed them and that they could bless the world. The Brits ended up losing a lot of money and a lot of lives (sounds like Iraq?) and eventually lost their power. Many have discussed it but none have spoken of the warrior-militia culture being lost in this country. Peace through strength...not the expression of strength. Like Sweden in WW2: if we all owned guns, aggressors wouldn't invade us due to their own fear.

America needs to revert back to defense-based fighting. We must lose, though it may be painful, the "revolutionary" rhetoric and actions in our foreign policy. America must conserve freedom at home and abroad for freedom spreads naturally: others will free themselves in due time. We should nurture and help grow the pockets of freedom in the gloom of oppressed nations. There must be a will of freedom to hold on to in order to spread it: we cannot create that will to freedom.

Chivalry

I'd like to stray from the political trail and write about something that the femmies (that's the feminists) is "totally dead." Chivalry is one of those many words in the English language that the populace knows the meaning to but feels that what they piece together in their minds is too simplistic. Wikipedia...the ever-reliant research source....describes 'chivalry' as courteous behavior towards women from men. That definition is far to simplistic for the femmies.

They feel that Chivalry is a condescending tone of life practiced only by those patriarchal male overlords oppressing their wives and daughters, taking away their birth control pills and their 'right' to kill babies. Now, does the true Marxifeminist believe in God? No.

So my question to them is: if there was no Creator who has given us equal rights, is there not an inherent, tribal structure written in our DNA? This tribal structure is, then, an integral part of our society, no? So feminists are fighting human biology, correct? In reference to this we can steal a quote from Lord of War: "When you fight your biology you'll always lose."

Indeed they have: by destroying chivalry around them, the radical remnant of the feminist movement perpetuates that which they are sworn to fight against: patriarchy. Is it not patriarchal when a drunken college girl is dancing on a table while one of her many boyfriends cheers something to the effect of "Take it off you whore!" Is it not patriarchal when these same feminists cannot manage their operation's money correctly and must be bailed out by husbands? Is it not patriarchal when Granholm's husband exerts more power than she does among the elite in Lansing?

The women's liberation movement is over. The 'pay discrepancy' is due to maternal leave ("Oh I'm taking off 6months...make sure you continue to give me those quarterly raises!") and innate physical development (this will disappear with deindustrialization and further machination of the assembly processes). Opportunities and academics will stop crafting themselves to facilitate the particular advancement of girls and young women for they have proven themselves to be able to fight in Vick's pit just as well as the male dogs. The 'New Left' Feminists are now in their 50's and 60's, wrought with arthritis and AIDS, and only attempt to continue to exert their influence in the Democratic Party by creating the "Women Issue." They still think they should force their definition of success on women that wish to settle down and raise families. This revocation of freedom is not the future for America.

The future of society is a realignment from the tainting of Radical Feminazi influence. We must shift away from the ideology that directly relates personal freedom with sexual promiscuity. In doing this I believe that God and His forces of modernization command us to make free the lives of the unborn, to accept the facts that Embryonic Stem Cell research hasnt produced any cures and is already obsolete in the fact of umbilical stem cell cures, and to keep Chivalry as it has continued outside of college campuses. Morality is not, as the feminists say, the way of the past. It is the future and I'm looking foreword to it.

I know you all have busy schedules, so I'll keep this post short.

So Barack Hussein Obama has once again lectured us on how we ought to live. This time the quote is thus:

"You know, it's embarrassing when Europeans come over here, they all speak English, they speak French, they speak German. And then we go over to Europe, and all we can say [is], 'Merci beaucoup.' Right?"

French??? Why in God's name is French important??? First we cling to our guns and Bibles too much, next the Obamas found it impossible to live on less than $500,000 a year, and now we are beneath him because we dont speak French.

Not to worry Americans, I don't care if it offends Mr. Hussein Obama but this blog will remain in English only...even if his camp/administration would have me tossed in what he considers enfer: a 4-star hotel! L'horreur!

Same Song, Different Verse

There are some that have said that the Conservative Movement is dead. That the Age of Reagan lasted from 1974 to 2008. The interview Hannity did with Newt a few days after McCain's nomination has creeped back into my mind periodically and, now, pesters me to present my thoughts.

Earlier today I laid out the question "Is Conservatism Dead?" on Google. The top few results said, more or less, no...then my eyes dropped to the 'great' Daily Kos (for those that don't know, Daily/Weekly/Monthly/Yearly Kos sessions/publications are horribly sociofascitic to the point of being what one can objectively call Marxist-Leninist).

I do read the Daily Kos once in awhile to get the deformed and fragmented 'scoop' on what the far-left is doing in and to our country. This particular article tosses with 'educated' language a bunch of radical statements attempting to cookie-cutter separate the Movement.

Fascists like the Kos writers like to vainly 'analyze' the Conservative Movement and classify it into 'trends' and 'influences.' Fascists like the Kos writers think that the essence of Conservatism is a conglomeration of political expedients and like individuals (basing their analysis on race, class, faith, and political locale...all of which they deny but one can easily see it).

The facts are that the essence of Conservatism is not something that can be done away with. Conservatism is morality. It is love. It is equality. It is the belief in the one, true God. Conservatism is freedom. The Fascists think if they can politicize what conservatism is, than they can destroy it.

The Nazis and Communists tried this...politicizing of everything from food to religion. Where did it get them? They were thrown onto the ash heap of history by free people everywhere. No matter how many dark days Conservatism saw, it always has risen up to throw off the oppressors. No matter if the darkness lasts for 8 years as in the Wilson administration's case or if it lasts 700 years as with the Scots: Freedom and Justice always bounce back.

What we see today is the same, melodic song of Conservatism, just in a different, softer verse. Reagan said, "I know in my heart that man is good. That what is right will always eventually triumph." We just have to commit ourselves to playing ever louder.
